Reading up on his pyramid schemes you wonder what the fuck? You made hundreds of millions legitimately, as far as record producing can be, and you still want to bilk people on a fake blimp advertising scheme from 20 years ago?
I'm reading up on him a bit, and what the fuck: He got money from Jordache to rent a blimp to them, a blimp that didn't even exist at that point. He used the money to build the blimp, which crashed on its test flight. Pearlman and Jordache sued each other, and... Pearlman won? How the hell did that happen?
The spike haired albino-looking fuck? Yes he was a prick. I will concur on this. So he OD's on pills, their bass player kills somebody driving impaired on pills; this band is just a bunch of pill-popping losers, aren't they?
Such an earnest comic actor. Brooks made him a legend with classic roles but regardless of that he was the perfect straight man and not-so straight man. His early team-ups with Richard Pryor are also amazing, truly we lost one of the kindest and most likeable of ALL actors. And he is the ONLY Willy Wonka. Nobody is in second place.
My love of Wilder has been clear here since the beginning. My wife and I are planning a weekend movie marathon, which will definitely include Silver Streak, See No Evil--Hear No Evil, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, and Willy Wonka. I've posted this before, but it's absolutely worth posting again. It's a letter from Wilder regarding how's feedback and thoughts on the Willy Wonka costume prior to shooting the movie. A perfect glance into his amazingly detailed thought process.
This is an excellent article...http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/31/movies/gene-wilder-understated-nuttiness.html The man was a genius and had an absolutely magical voice.
