The man had the warmest speaking voice ever. I'd kill for that, he sounded like Sinatra singing when he talked. He wasn't a huge talent, but he loved his home country very much and Canada takes a stalker-ish amount of pride in its few celebrities.
Damn. This is the worst celebrity death of 2016 for me. Although day before yesterday a good friend woke up in the middle of the night when her eldest daughter was throwing up, and then she died in her moms arms. So that sucks too.
Henry Heimlich, creator of the Heimlich maneuver, died at 96. My son was a pre-me. Spent some time in the NICU. Fortunately I'm trained in CPR/1st aid and emergency medicine, because shortly after we got him home he started choking and turning colors. Choking to where he wasn't making noise, which is when you worry. My training kicked in and I did the version for infants, where you strike them in an upward motion on their back. My son was good to go after that, but wasn't fun for a while. Not sure if he would have been alright if I didn't know how to do that. Dude saved a lot of lives.
They just announced that Alan Thicke died from a ruptured aorta, same thing that got John Ritter and my father. At least it's quick, not clean, but mercifully quick.
It looks like 2016 is trying to go full on Death Star on us. Celebrities just have to hang on for one more week and they're in the clear....
2016 ain't done yet, bitch. Rick Parfitt, early member of Status Quo and was still with the band up until this year until another heart attack. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Parfitt
