They were one of the first Glam bands and had a huge Bowie written/produced hit with "All theYoung Dudes", they weren't exactly obscure.
My dad is living in a World Of Darkness right now. The Eagles are EVERYTHING in music to him. His favourite band, his favourite song is Desperado, I really like the Eagles, they are America's biggest band, my only issue is what domineering assholes Frey and Henley were over the band. Too many alpha wolves in one pack will do that.
Some of those hard lifers must be stocking up on virgin's blood and cholesterol medicine. That is a high body count for 3 weeks. David Crosby has got to be shitting bricks. He looks like Donovan in The Last Crusade after he drinks from the wrong grail. Tony Iommi and Bill Ward of Black Sabbath aren't doing too hot. Iggy Pop looks like a topographical map. Gary Rossington still snorkels in whiskey, conveniently forgetting an actual snorkel. Billy Gibbons is looking rough... sort of, I guess. Nobody has seen his face in 30 years. Rev. Billy is another guy like Lemmy, someone who isn't supposed to die. Those 60s and 70s legends are getting up there, man. Now I'm depressed.
Jesus CHRIST. How many more huge names are going to drop this week? This one is fucking brutal. The Eagles were my first concert and they were one of my favourite bands.
With all the recent death and destruction.... this forum is backed up right? You know, in case the servers get cancer or something?
Close. Dallas Taylor, drummer for Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. http://www.latimes.com/local/obituaries/la-me-dallas-taylor-20150119-story.html
Do you one better-ish. Another musician, another cancer. Jason Mackenroth, former Rollins Band and Blue Man Group drummer dead at 46 from prostate cancer. Gotta wonder how many second/third tier musicians died last year from cancer, but the media didn't really care. Now we have a trend going that is newsworthy.
HOT TAKES COMING THROUGH Her brother died the next day. Thats a ROUGH fucking week for that lady. Cancer sucks.
Mic Gillette an original member of Tower of Power dead at 64. Please someone make it stop at least for the rest of the week. http://www.mercurynews.com/entertai...lette-legendary-tower-power-horn-section-dies Maybe a bit too obscure, but if you were in the Bay Area music scene in the 70s, Tower of Power was huge.
We lost another rocker. Jimmy Bain dead at 68. http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/former-rainbowdio-bassist-jimmy-bain-dead-at-68/ Reunited with Ronnie.
Someone better update that site...which is currently down. Abe Vigoda, dead at 94. 10-15 years after everyone assumed he already was.
