This also means this election just got a LOT more important, as there is no way the Senate approves a replacement before the election.

They've been dragging their feet on confirming ambassadors. This is a seat in the most powerful court in America that will potentially be filled by this person for 20 to 30 years. Guys like Cruz LIVE for the chance to perform this kind of epic obstructionism. Shit, if Cruz is nominated, not only will he block that confirmation, he'll tout it as part of his platform and his constituents will eat it the fuck up.
Word on the interwebs is that Obama had him killed so he could make a left wing appointment before leaving office. I'll bet Beyoncé was involved.

Well, her lawyer can finally reap the rewards of "Go Set A Watchman." Which completely bastardized her legacy. http://www.theguardian.com/books/2015/jul/15/harper-lee-watchman-mystery-tonja-carter There was some shady shit going on. Blind, virtually deaf, bed ridden, but she signs the release of a 50+ year old shelved book. Mockingbird is arguably the most important piece of American literature. RIP. This is a big one.

Here's the amazing "Blackbird" cover that Dave Grohl performed during the Emmy's "In Memoriam" tribute. Spoiler: kinda cool/depressing I didn't know that performance had occurred until I saw it on Facebook. Yeah, well, as I've mentioned a few times on here I had to basically plan my own funeral when I was dying of a brain tumor some years ago... "Blackbird" was one of the songs I wanted played (along with Travis Tritt's "I'm Gonna Be Somebody" and "Margaritaville" which is where I assumed I would be going). I have mixed and confused emotions watching that video. Really cool, but also takes me back to a sad and confusing time. Not quite sure what to make of it. Grohl killed it though. (pun intended)
Joey Feek died today. Country music lost a beautiful voice and an incredible songwriter, but fortunately not the music. Cancer is a bastard. Unfortunately whenever I hear the phrase "cancerous tumors" it kinda sucks too.
I know most of you won't know the name or care muc at all but if you are a fan of cricket then the world lost one of the true class acts of the game a few days ago in Martin Crowe. http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/978251.html
Pat Conroy. One of my very favorite authors, with Prince of Tides probably my favorite book. He spoke at my college graduation. I don't remember everything he said, but I got his autograph on my copy of PoT.
