Bad ass. Her and Simone Biles, hell the whole rest of the team, it's amazing to me how authoritative yet nonchalant they can be about doing it at their level.
Some of the commentators were saying that Simone Biles might be the greatest female gymnast to ever compete in the Olympics. Shes that good. Watching their events last night was astounding.
+1 I already knew before NBC's coverage that they had won Gold, so I was thinking, "meh, I'll just flip channels." And, then I still got sucked in to watch. Watching the most elite of the most elite be dominate, is just so compelling.
Watching all the other teams in the lead-up was like watching any other high calibre "normal" gymastics. Then the US women started and it was like watching an entirely different league. How they moved, how they landed...just a completely different level than any other team.
Phelps is the GOAT. Its amazing how he can keep winning, it seems his athleticism and talent for swimming is just that much more than anyone else's. And he won by what, .04 seconds? That can't be taught. I like how he doesn't try to be super moral, he is an athlete, performs well and is totally mortal and human out of the water. I wish I saw the gymnastics team final but I fell asleep at night because despite being on vacation for a week, I just couldn't sleep well in the room I was in.
To be fair, that last free kick from Usme was pretty fucking gnarly. That's a tough save for anyone, especially when you are trying to hold space against runners. Solo had a bad game, absolutely, but she kept the US in their game against France on Saturday, she was magnificent. She's a bitch with no self awareness, but she's still by far the best female keeper in the world.
She is the best female athlete I have ever heard of in my entire life, dominant over anyone else in a way that not even Flo Jo could touch. She cannot be defeated, or even competed against.

She's outrageous. The only one who can potentially touch her is Raisman in the floor because of her degree of difficulty. But think about that. Raisman won gold in the floor in London...got even better especially compared to her competition, and still may not beat Biles. People talk about the genetic freak proportions of Phelps that allow him to be great, Biles is the same way. The tiny stature of all the former 14 year old gymnasts, but built like a brick wall with all the power and strength that comes with it. Perfect storm.
