I am curious how it's going to proceed. Taking a quick Wikipedia walk, the usual nomination to confirmation process takes about 2 1/2 to 3 months. It'll be interesting to see how they plan on slingshotting this person through in about a month and a half.

Gayle Sayers dead at 77. Much like Sandy Koufax in baseball he did not have a long career. When he did play there was no one better at running back.

And one of my favorites, "Oh Lord, It's Hard To Be Humble." First concert I went to, also, when I was a kid. He did a bit of acting and was in North Dallas Forty and The Sting II.

Well that sucks. He was a mean bastard on the mound, he'd just as soon spin your cap as look at you.

I miss the game when it was dangerous to dig in.

    And his 1.12 ERA in '68? Un-fucking-real.

I have the book “60 feet 6 inches,” where it’s Reggie Jackson and Bob Gibson talking about how they would approach the game, from a hitter’s and pitcher’s mindset. Very interesting.

And they lowered the mound the next year, for good. Like when Tiger was destroying Augusta, they backed up the tees. Once in a lifetime talent.

I think it was Gibby that said he hated throwing at Giant's slugger Jim Ray Hart because Hart was a nice guy, but he didn't have good reflexes. And he ended up getting hit in the head a lot. It was just business.

And this was before ear flaps on helmets, when "Stick it in his ear" meant that quite literally.

I saw Gibby pitch a few times on TV in the early 70's, and he lived on the inside of the plate. He was a true intimidator.

I went looking for that book and came across this one:

I'd never heard of the guy, but found this. I bought the book.

Dude.... too soon. This man’s name is synonymous with the electric guitar. Plus he had the greatest grin that any man ever had. He was never not smiling or being polite on camera.

This is a funeral where normally half the musicians on the planet would attend. So sad. He truly had his own sound, style, and one of the greatest musicians of all time.

Damn. I know Eddie has that tap sound that people love or hate, but he mastered that dirty sound with a little flanger in there. So good. One of my favorite VH songs
