If that’s the reason, then Jesus Christ are they tucked in the head. It’s not fair to suspend them if they go to another team. Dip your head in this river, wash away your sins. These fuckheads willingly did this, they knew it was cheating, and the only person being threatened and atoning for it so far is the whistleblower— the hero.
I recognize the difficulties presented to MLB but they basically got owned by the same argument the Area 51 people were using. “What are they going to do, get all of us?” Yes you cheating fucks. All of you.
8200 pitches, 1100 trash can bangs. https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/m...ros-sign-stealing-angers-17-blue-jays/sn-amp/ ...bro. You can’t tell me that the players weren’t heavily in cahoots with this. Why do they skate?
I'm kind of surprised about all the outrage over the whole sign stealing thing. It's been going on since the first guy figured out how to throw a curve ball. Any of us watching on TV for the past 40 years or so could pick up the signs. The funny thing is, some players don't want to know what pitch is coming. I can't remember where I read it, but it talked about when a runner would get on second and relay signs to the batter by resting their hand on one knee or the other, or some other method. Some guys really didn't want to know and I can see that....say the guy signals that a change up is coming, so the batter slows everything down and the pitcher crosses up the catcher and lets loose with a 98 fastball that happens to be headed right at the now relaxed batter. Did the Astros cheat? Yes. Am I surprised? Nope, not one bit. They simply got caught doing the same kind of cheating that's been going on for over 100 years with a high tech twist. I actually thought them stealing all the Cardinals' scouting reports was a much bigger deal then this. They certainly are establishing quite a track record of being a less then stellar organization.
This 100%. And I hate the Cardinals. But that was downright Watergate-esque and it seemed to get swept under the proverbial rug.
Woo, pitchers and catchers have reported. Let's do this. Rule Changes this year. I like them all. THREE-BATTER MINIMUM: All pitchers -- both starters and relievers -- now have to face at least three batters (or pitch until the inning is over) before they come out of a game. The only exception is an injury or illness that prevents the pitcher from being able to finish his three batters. ROSTER LIMITS: Five parts . . . 1. 26-man rosters -- Teams' active rosters are being increased from 25 to 26 players for the regular season (through Aug. 31) and during the postseason. Teams are limited to carrying a maximum of 13 pitchers. 2. Smaller rosters in September at 28 players, including a max of 14 pitchers. (limits the parade of pitchers in late Sept games that made them long) 3. "Two-way player" is now an official designation - lets them stay on the roster as a position player and pitch in games without counting toward their team's 13-pitcher pitcher limit. 4. Position players are allowed to pitch only if a game goes to extra innings, or if their team is winning or losing by more than six runs. During normal circumstances in a nine-inning game, only the team's 13 designated pitchers -- or two-way players -- are allowed to pitch. 5. What used to be the "26th man" is now a "27th man" thanks to the new 26-man roster size. Teams can use this to call up an extra player in special circumstances -- mainly for a doubleheader. INJURED LIST AND OPTION PERIODS: Pitchers and two-way players are returning to a 15-day injured list. That is, once they're placed on the IL, they can't be reinstated for 15 days. (I wish they still called it the disabled list, simply because DL is easier to say than IL, but whatever.) CHALLENGE TIME: Managers now only have 20 seconds to decide to challenge a play instead of 30.
Most are good, but I’d lower the challenge time to even as short as 10 seconds so these fucks have ZERO TIME to let their secret camera scouts to make the call for them.
lol, secret? Every team has coach sitting in the locker room watching the replay. They talk about it during broadcast and are identified in that role. It's not a secret.
So we can expect some September “flu-like symptoms” outbreaks in the middle of some tight games, perhaps? Sudden onset of cramps? I kid, but not completely. Well, Mookie is a Dodger, and most Sox fans on social media are pissed and going through the "I'm not going to watch any games this season" shitposting phase. I am not happy to see him go, but he's had one foot out the door since he lost arbitration a few years ago, and he's been vocal about becoming a free agent. Better to get rid of him, get something in return for him that's cheaper, so that the luxury tax gets reset. This next offseason, the Sox will be buyers. Also in unsurprising news - Pedroia will not be reporting on Monday, due to his knee still being sore. He's one of my favorites, but dude needs to hang it up. He'd make a great bench coach or even just a fielding coach. Supposedly they're also signing Kevin Pillar, but I haven't seen any official news. And what the crap is going on with Brock Holt? Why has nobody signed him yet?!?
I don't know the answer to any of your questions, but I do know that every time I see or hear Brock Holt's name, I say it in my head like they did with Steve on Arrested Development. STEVE HOLT!
That’s something that everybody does, I think. When he first joined the team, for a good two years I was like “who the fuck is this guy?!? STEVE HOLT!!”
As a Red Sox fan I'll miss Mookie, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't see it coming. Kinda puts the team in the tank for this season, but like Nat said they will be buyers in the offseason. Here's to 2021! Cheers!
I’m excited the Jays have gone back to their original peacock blue uniform again, the jersey I always embraced . Finally embracing the trendiness that other teams were doing ten years ago. what is your favourite jersey that your team had? Skip the 90’s that decade was awful, remember what the Angels and Expos switched to? Fuck off. Oh, and Yankees fans don’t need to answer. Your options are pretty limited to “home” and “away” for a hundred years or so.
I'm an Indians fan and my favorite jersey is the red one with the blue cursive "Indians" on the front. It's not very distinct, but it looks good. I don't have high hopes for the Tribe this year. I think they'll still be competitive, but the offense outside of Lindor and Ramirez doesn't seem all that promising. Our pitching will be solid, but with Clevinger out until a month into the season and Kluber traded it might be a rough start. I'm pretty frustrated with my team right now. They had a window to really compete for a championship and they squandered it. Lindor could be gone by the trade deadline and that just bums me out. How in the world this ownership can justify a payroll of 90 mil is beyond me. Hopefully some of the younger guys will turn a corner, but I haven't seen anything that makes me think Naquin or Zimmer will all of a sudden be studs at the plate. Gonna be an interesting year.
Red Sox fans are in the same boat, for the most part. The benefit? Now that Nike is the supplier of the jerseys, all of last year's Majestic jerseys are 40% off. You get the same design for way less, without a stupid swoosh on the front. I do have an old Sox cap with the 50's "batting sock" logo (aka the condom guy). It doesn't fit anymore but I used to wear it all the time.
If you were a White Sox fan you have the option of choosing that wonderful year the owner made them wear shorts. Straight-up sports heresy. I’m surprised more Red Sox fans aren’t sporting that emblem, with his throbbing and gigantic red shaft. That is goddamn hilarious.
I figured it out. The novel coronavirus was created in a trash can near the Astros dugout, in order to ensure a 2020 season with no fans in attendance.
Let’s all wax nostalgic on one of the greatest single moments in sports history: Pedro throwing Zims down on his rabbit ass:
Baseball is back! (Sort of) ESPN to televise Korea Baseball Organization games They're going to show 6 games a week. They better not quit showing the games if/when MLB opens up....like someone shutting off the TV just when you figure out the plot line and really start to get into it. That would not make me happy.
