Great summary and explanation of protocols. https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/29299497/a-day-mlb-covid-protocols Although, the implication in the ending is a little, uh, dark . . . Spoiler Back home, our player has his last interaction of the day. After being around 60 people at the ballpark, he sees three more -- his wife and two children.[/quote]
Sometimes, you just have to accept the fact that your team of choice is the one players don’t like. I’m glad Mookie’s getting his money, and I understood why the Sox traded him, when he was most definitely going to enter the FA market so he could get his huge paycheck. I was hoping the Sox would try and get him back, after getting a few puzzle pieces in return this year. Fucking coronavirus.
https://twitter.com/jeffpassan/status/1286365378067783683?s=21 This does not bode well for how the season is going to go. Hours before opening day.
Several players having been testing positive for the past few months. Why would hours before opening day be any different?
Because this wasn't an intake test. He has been working out and playing with the team in the 2 days since he took that test. Meaning that COVID is inside their "bubble"
I think the worst thing about this season is that with no fans, the Astros can’t get the “warm welcome” they deserve during every visiting game. I really wanted to see that.
But, that's been happening for the past 2-3 weeks, too. I don't see the difference. They're not in a bubble or a "bubble" like NBA is doing.
And we have our first baseball game cancelled due to COVID. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/1287736497563721728 The marlins now have 14 active cases on the team after 10 more positive tests yesterday (8 players 2 coaches). https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/1287736207120781316
Now the Yankees - Philly game has also been cancelled (visitor clubhouse in Philly was where the Marlins spent the weekend.) https://twitter.com/ken_rosenthal/status/1287757902548172803?s=21
Dr. Fauci's First Pitch baseball card broke all Topps sales records in just under 24 hours. $10, and they're sold out. https://www.news-press.com/story/sp...-card-breaks-company-sales-record/5519546002/ https://www.topps.com/dr-anthony-fauci-mlb-topps-now-reg-card-2.html
Good thing they took that picture at the moment they did. His throw practically went to first base, it'd have been out of frame, lol.
Throw shit. You throw out the first pitch. Throwing from 90 feet away with zero warmup tosses is not easy. Try it sometime. When Colin Kaepernick was throwing out the first pitch at a Giants game, he took warmup throws in the batting cage under the stands. 49ers and Giants wanted to make sure he impressed.
It's only a little over 60 feet from the mound to home plate. Still, I get what you're saying, my arm doesn't like to throw anything that far without warning up. I could probably do it accurately, but it would hurt.
I read that he was concerned that he hasn't thrown a baseball in years, so a few days before his first pitch, he did some practice and just destroyed his 79 year old shoulder. On top of that, he said his ego got the best of him and he tried to put a little smoke on it.
