“And what’s more American than calling it like it is?“ Man, if he had just leaned into it, he’d lose his job, but have several already lined up.
And the Jays/Rogers were buyers! So nice to see, and the moves all look good, at least on paper. Excited for baseball down the stretch for the last month+.
If Robbie Ray can get his shit together, y'all are in for a treat. Despite his so-so career numbers (And his dismal numbers this year), he's something special. He's got a live arm and devastating stuff. We get D'Backs' feeds on cable here and I've always made sure to tune in when he's pitching the past few years. Unless he's caught Steve Blass disease, or there's something wrong with his arm, he's going to get going one of these days and be absolutely wipe out unhittable.
Can't find an embeddable video link but yeah, this is pretty funny. "Fastball... right down the middle... for ball one..." https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/ix3j89/middlemiddle_fastball_balls_of_2020/
Braves won the Division again. I will be stunned if Snitker doesn't win NL Manager of the year. The Braves had zero - ZERO! - starters from opening day roster go the full (shortened) season. Max Fried is their best pitcher and he spent time on the DL, Soroka tore his achilles, Hamels started and finished on the DL and made one start, Foltynewicz is detailing cars somewhere, and Newcomb is playing catch in a pasture, while Chacin opted out of the season, and Kyle Wright was up and down from the alternate site. They had multiple games this season where they started someone from the bullpen or a guy that was on the roster for one day. Crazy.
I know you're not watching . . . but is anyone following the A's - White Sox game? Giolito is pitching a gem.
The Braves will have a LOT of trouble winning the pennant this year, me thinks. You think it’s safe to say the Padres have a spot in the Wildcard? Jesus Christ. I wonder in a full season how the Dodgers have have fared this year. Because those two teams tore it the fuck UP in their division.
Correa said (paraphrasing), "Everybody's mad at us, but we're here, and we just beat the Twins to advance. What are they gonna say now?" This is what I'm gonna say. YOU CHEATED ALL THROUGHOUT THE SEASON IN 2017, AND YOU'RE A FUCKING DISGRACE YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT.
He should sit down and shut up. Nobody wants to hear his stupid opinion for his disgrace of a franchise. Fucko, you are a LONG way off from any decent baseball fan respecting you again. Fuck you, and die.
Rave: Braves pulled it out today. (Thank goodness, because Fried is the only legit starter they have.) Rant: This is the first season in over 30 years that I have not been to an Atlanta MLB game. Fucking COVID.
The last time we missed the Jays live for an entire season was the year after the strike (1995?) My dad’s philosophy was pure bitter rage: “They aren’t getting our money this year. FUCK THEM.”
Same here. The last time I didn’t go to multiple Yankees games and/or minor league games has to be the late 80s.
Last time I went to an MLB game was when they charged me $30 to park in an empty field 1/2 mile from the stadium. Sorry, not worth that to see a grown man hit a ball with a stick.
The Oakland A's move on to the second round of playoffs for the first time in ten tries. It almost feels as good to just do that as winning three consecutive World Series in the 1970s. (yeah I am that old). It would be great if we can beat the Astros and move onto the American League Championship but that is going to be a tall order. Say what you want, they are a talented team and the A's are missing Matt Chapman who just happens to be a future hall of famer in the prime of his career. So pardon me if I take this weekend and just bask in the glow of moving on.
