...and there ya' go: Toronto Blue Jays plunk Tampa Bay Rays CF Kevin Kiermaier in wake of scouting-card drama
My opinion on this is that his taking of the card is fair game - finders keepers. However, his whole explanation of “I didn’t realize what it was at the time” is horse shit. I think that somebody in the dugout was motioning to him to grab it, he takes it and gets up, looks back to see if they caught it, and goes back to the dugout.
Here’s the Jomboy breakdown of Kiermaier. And now that I’ve seen the video of him in the dugout - yes, he knew exactly what he had the moment he saw it.
Picking up the card was fair game. But since Keirmeir was the one to steal it, he had no right to bitch about getting hit in the spine— he knew that pitch was coming, he had the plays. if you’re going to just lie like a bitch though, go play for the Astros. Sometimes these drugged-up millionaires forget they’re on TV.
So this next week, the Red Sox play the O’s and Nats. The Yankees play the Rays and Jays. I mean it’s great that Boston has some shit teams to play, but it really would’ve been nice to win ONE game against the Yankees this past weekend, and keep the wild card lead. Instead, we got the classic Joe West treatment, and Bobby Dalbec suddenly remembered he’s a wimpy kid.
Anyone want to take a wild guess who is now tied for the major league lead in triples? Hint: His other talents include hitting long towering home runs and pitching. I think we can pretty safely say he's now the best player in baseball. Yes, even better than Trout.
The idea popped into my head the other day, I wonder if the Red Sox are adamant about avoiding the luxury tax, because they’re gonna make a stupid offer to him when he’s a free agent. The Red Sox are always looking for somebody to get their market share in Japan way up…and aside from Koji in 2013, most of them have been busts.
Today is going to be a nail biter for sure. Thankfully the M's are playing the Angels so I get to watch the game. I hope Maddon doesn't pull a surprise and let Ohtani pitch and more than that, I really want to see Haniger get the 40/100 stat line.
The Red Sox, however, are not… seeing Ryan Zimmerman get a standing O and tear up at his first at bat, of his final game, though. Who says you can’t be romantic about baseball?
Reddit gold: One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with Rafael Devers. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only. This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to Rafael Devers, “You promised me Devers, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?” Devers replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
One more Mariners icon without a playoff appearance. Best of luck Kyle. This team didn't deserve you.
Wall-ball singles will now be called “Stantonian home runs.” The play of the game was Bogaerts gunning down Judge at the plate. Shut the fuckin’ door on any momentum shift. And then when he did the reverse, ignoring the third base coach and beating the throw home. Gotta know your home field, bruh
