We've seen a few players who got paid and then checked out, but I can't think of a situation where an MVP-level player just decided he wasn't that interested and was going to cripple the team until he got benched. I don't actually believe that's what happened, but it would be funny to non-Packers fans if that's what happens this year.
Oh, I don't think he checked out and stopped trying... I think that's 100% against his DNA, and he's physically incapable of doing that. I think he's pissed off and frustrated at how management is handling the team resourcing, and as much as he's giving it his all during the game, he's just given up on being angry about it in press conferences. He said his piece a while back, and now he's in his own version of "I'm just here so I don't get fined"... and saying what he has to in order to get out of the press conferences. He did hint at the team roster a bit in that call, but didn't come right out and said "I can't throw to a bunch of people who can't catch", etc.
Anyone watching the Manning brothers broadcast on ESPN 2? This is like having Peyton on your couch explaining what’s actually happening. I love it.
Eli busting on Peyton about late night chicken parm was funny. I don't like NFL OT rules. Seems they could come up with something better.
Peyton at the end, to Eli: "I told you to study WR5 for Vegas . . . Carr to Jones, one of the great tandems out there." lol
I tried to enjoy the Peyton/Eli commentary. Unfortunately, a few things hurt it for me: The game view is too small. I'm not watching to see the Manning brothers. Maybe float them on the screen? Or fade in and out to the partial-screen view between plays? They're clearly on a lag, so the commentary between them and responding to the game is off, which was really distracting to me (I was diagnosed with ADD as a kid, which doesn't affect me much, but may be feeding into this problem here where a distraction like that really impacts the game experience). Barkley was nothing but a distraction to the game. I would have watched a post-game show with the three of them, but shit, let me watch football without stupid comments. I get enough stupid comments from the actual analysts. I think it could have been great, some of the commentary was really good and some of the jokes were amazing. Let more of the screen show the game, reduce the lag problem, and get rid of Barkley and it would have been awesome.
I like the idea of them being smaller so the game is easier to see. I think they keep them big enough so you can see who's talking, but they could have their box light up yellow when they talk, like on a Zoom call or something. I'm sure they'll tweak it. The last 30(?) minutes of the game (air time, not game time) was just Peyton, Eli and Russell Wilson. That was much more enjoyable.
Those two have the largest heads of any individuals I've ever seen. I thought Peyton Manning was the reason bobblehead dolls exist. Y'all want to make them bigger???
I just want interesting and funny with less stupid. I don't care how it gets there. I just find so many of the announcer teams to contain way too much stupidity.
I'm in a guillotine league. (Started with 18 teams. The lowest score each week is booted, and his players go into the FA pool.) So, floor is more important to me than ceiling. Josh Jacobs is one of my RB and he is unlikely to play. My replacement choices are: JD McKissick Demetric Felton Peyton Barber I think Felton's floor is higher. He is listed as a RB/WR in this Yahoo league. I hate the way Yahoo does their projections. Jacobs is still projected to outscore all of them, and he's "doubtfull" My current projected points puts me in the lower middle of this week, so I should survive. But I finished 3rd and 4th the first two weeks, and that is a LOT less nerve wracking. Any recommendations and commentary is welcome.
Wow... today was a day for kicks... both record attempts that were run back for records, and game winning that actually made it and was an NFL record.
