I was introduced to him in college, when he wrote for Rolling Stone and that magazine didn’t suck yet. His books started me on the political satire genre, and I still have a few of them. Definitely recommend.
I'll admit, I don't know much about the guy, but I watched this: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9358084/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0 and the guy is a crack smoking psycho, that much I'll give him. Funny? He might be, but that movie made me sad.
Comedy magicians dominated the 80’s stand-up circuit to the point it almost killed stand-up. Only he emerged from it unscathed. I liked him the second he started intentionally fucking up tricks on stage. I still marvel at the knife-to-the-arm gag.
Emilio Delgado, aka Luis. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2022/03/10/entertainment/emilio-delgado-obituary/index.html
Shit. I knew he had cancer years ago and forgot. He was brilliant in the right role, one of the best “low key” actors who got over in the 70’s and 80’s. Every second he’s in A History Of Violence was an absolute gift. Jesus, Joey.
Apparently that’s what Marlee Maitlin said. Never heard her accusations against him and that he basically acknowledged them. Fucked up.
Scott Hall aka Razor Ramon is about to be taken off life support after having three heart attacks yesterday.
Vic Elford. https://racer.com/2022/03/13/vic-elford-1935-2022/ https://jalopnik.com/racing-great-quick-vic-elford-dies-age-86-1848650475 This one really hits home. I doubt anyone on here would recognize the name, but he was one of the most winningest Porsche drivers of all time. His real claim to fame was driving the Porsche 917 at Le Mans. When they filmed the movie Le Mans, he was the only driver they considered good enough to do the actual filming of the race scenes... they strapped a camera onto the 917 and let him drive around those being filmed. I met him years ago when I brought him in to be a guest speaker at a Porsche event I put on, and had the pleasure of being an occasional correspondent with him after that. One of my most prized possessions is a signed print he gave me... addressed to me, and wishing me all the best with my new race team. He was driver of car 25, and won pole position. Other signatures on the print are the likes of David Hobbes, and a bunch of other recognizable names if you're into racing. My last memories of him were golfing with him in BC when he came up for a visit. Even in his 70's the dude was a hell of a competitor. No quarter asked, nor given. He kicked my ass by about 12 strokes. RIP Vic.
