saw Bill Burr at his last show of the tour last night. This fucker was coughing so bad he probably gave the entire stadium covid
I just found out that an old friend of mine has moved to the midwest with her family from California. The fires and climate change were the big drivers for it according to her, and they have no regrets leaving Cali behind. In the past, she said that she'd never leave because she was a "California Girl, through and through".
every year during fire season, I always get a ton of interviewees who are refugees from the fires. The lucky ones are just fed up with it year after year, but sadly I've met quite a few who are new to town having lost their home and most of their possessions and living in a hotel or with family until they can find a permanent residence. I wish I could say the number of these refugees is going down. "Climate migrants" are going to be a BIG thing in the future.
Those are my wife's thoughts also. I know 6 couples that have moved out of CA in the last 3-4 years and not a single one of them regrets it.
I agree. I think climate change migration is going to be pretty huge going forward. Hopefully it's more of a somewhat steady stream that allows cities and towns to keep on top of infrastructure planning and housing development. I don't hold up a ton of hope. Also, almonds are going to shit if California dries up.
it's a very good time to be in the construction industry in Texas, that's for damn sure. I know a lot of general contractors and people in the homebuilding industry who are making money hand over fist. I can only imagine that infrastructure is doing the same, because all I see now when I drive the highways are expansions and new projects going in. This is my argument for more open borders (Biden has done exactly nothing to restrict them in any manner since he took over), as the more places like Texas see rapid growth, the more work is going to be needed and the spoiled rotten SOBs who live here currently sure as fuck aren't gonna do it. One of my coworkers, who herself is the daughter of an immigrant, likes to make the joke that all Mexicans should take one day off per year just to show how valuable they are to our national economy.
Someone on Reddit posted years ago working on a movie set of his. They said that Cruise’s entire focus is ensuring the audience is maximally entertained for their moviegoing experience and will do whatever he needs to do to achieve that goal. The guy delivers every single time. I’m a huge Cruise fan. I just wished he branched out a bit more than established franchises since he can pull those off too. Edge of Tomorrow is one of the best modern sci-fi films in the last 20 years. I didn’t pay super-close attention to World Cup, but this is amazing: Spoiler
It just occured to me that every gift I bought Jägerette is for her feet: boots, socks, slippers, pedicure kit. In case any of you were wondering, yes my tenth film will indeed be my last.
My father in law just got an apartment to live in located in a shitty town in Cali. 3100 dollars a month for 875 square feet. He and my mother in law are moving back to Sweden because California is just too expensive. You used to be able to get a nice apartment in that town for like 750 bucks. I pay 2/3rd of that for my mortgage and an apartment here in Sweden.
