I am so pissed at the marketing team for that movie. It was such a great movie, but anything to do with trailers/marketing had me utterly confused to what was going on, and any idea i did have was not even close to what the movie was about.
Just watched the latest Dirty Jobs where they go down and tour the Pucker Butt pepper company... it's the dude who made the Carolina Reaper. It was pretty interesting to see what goes on there. Dude is making some serious bank.
Ah frick. The bomb cyclone is messing up flights all over the place. My MiL was supposed to come in tomorrow and her flight was just cancelled with no coverage and a 3hr wait to talk to anyone over the phone. I wonder how this one will be resolved. Anyone else having holiday plans disturbed by the weather?
My family is bubbling again this year, as my sister's MS (more specifically, the drug trial she's in) means that she has no immune system, so vaccines/boosters have zero effect on her. My mom and I are therefore just chilling alone in our bubble so we can spend it with my sister for a few days. I just spent a week in Vancouver so I'm really hoping I didn't bring back anything. So far, so good. And I'm kind of OK with how it's working out so far... taking 2 weeks off and just doing my own thing (with the exception of a couple of quick hand-offs of some bottles of wine to some close friends) is plenty fun for me right now. I've been so run down and just out of breath for a few years now, due to the heart thing that was recently diagnosed. The new meds I'm on have got me rejuvenated and super energetic, and I've finally got enough energy to go and clean up my shop and get back in there and do some fun stuff.
That's absolutely absurd. I pay less for my mortgage for a similarly sized apartment, but in a brand new building in the heart of Tokyo. I've seen a lot of California homes and I would hard pass on a lot of them.
Fucking hell... again, mad props to Tom Cruise. He's got some whacky shit going on in his life, but the dude is full throttle when doing movie stunts.
His crazy bleeds over into his work. The movie going public reaps the rewards from it. I love the guys work ethic and just sheer love/obsession for movie making.
Yeah it's almost like they made the movie but were afraid to sell it, probably because his other sci-fi movie around that time, Oblivion, tanked. I would love more ballsy sci-fi attempts like EoT or The Fifth Element, which probably one of the best ones since Blade Runner.
I love how that clip not only captures the absolute insanity of what Cruise did, but how everyone held their breath watching him do it.
The sound of every person in that room wondering if they might be watching their careers crash to the bottom of that ravine.
Probably to avoid a conversation like this: Director: "Hey producer, Tom Cruise accidentally killed himself. We need to file a claim with the insurance company." Producer: "What? how the heck did that happen?" Director: "He drove a motorcycle off a cliff and his parachute didn't open." Producer: "Why was he doing that? Why was there not an actual stuntman doing this?" Director: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Cruise just puts the producers in his will prior to each shoot, and takes them out at the end of filming. Easy peasy.
I wonder if they shoot this first so that they don’t get more in the can that needs to be reshot, just in case.
