Got our first experience with "real" winter weather (3.5 " of snow, -5° overnight low temp) and luckily the wife talked me into buying a second additional space heater for the house. The heat pump plus heaters barely kept up with the dropping temps. Then we got our first experience driving past snowfall. The roads had been plowed, salted, and sanded but we've never done it before. So after taking a brief test drive around we started the drive back south to BR. 7 hours last night then 4 more today, straight to the inlaws house then to the step-sons house. Needless to say I'm beyond exhausted and apparently the heater at the Air BNB were staying at its acting up and won't shut off no matter what temp is set to. This is setting up to be a miserable day tomorrow if we don't get it corrected.
Thanks, it's definitely happening tomorrow... because Monday is the 11+ hour drive back, lol. We got to spend more time with the children/step-children (that came in from all over the country) and see the grandson, so it's all worth it. No more snow or ice predicted for the next 10 days or so for anywhere along the route back so that makes the drive less stressful. Now, if we can just get out of this third-world-country-of-a-city without any incident, then it will be a complete success.* *Fireworks going off nearby as I type this. It's fucking midnight.
Or in the case of @Revengeofthenerds we hope that whatever happens to him today only lands him in a Level 2 trauma center at worst.
Merry Christmas, idiots! Monkey puzzle bread is ready and I understand why people focus on their health at the new year. I am so clogged up with sugar. Need to go on an eggs and steak detox after this month, holy shit.
Merry Christmas. My weekend has had its ups and downs. Car lock broke, extra day off work, didnt get anything hunting yesterday, saw a bald eagle close up in flight, Bengals almost blew it, chest congestion today. At least my heat's still working knock wood.
Not sure anything else screams Christmas like Jack Black and Grohl and Kurstin doing a cover of Spirit of the Radio as part of the Hanukka Sessions.
I will have you know that I rode my son's hoverboard across out brick floors and did not fall off once!! However, my parents decided to gift us money toward a propane fire place. Except... we don't have a propane hookup. So now I gotta call someone to install a propane tank and get that all setup and retrofit. And nothing is more terrifying to me than me and flammable items. Speaking of, NYE is coming and we've been getting a lot of rain. It's time to blow some shit up!! Merry Xmas ya filthy animals.
Merry Christmas, ya fucks. weather finally up to the 30s after four days of sub-zero. My garage door is not a winner, I’ve learned. Took about ten minutes to open and close it each morning. Dripped the faucet and tub we don’t use down in the basement. New and interesting smells greeted us yesterday morning. Flushing out the sewage pump solved that. Drove to the next town to visit with in-laws. Forgot half of FIL’s gifts. MIL’s gift didn’t work out of the box and will need to be exchanged. As expected. Now I’m home and it’s time to drink.
I got a new cast iron pan for Christmas today. As I understand it, I should immediately run it through the dishwasher 4 or 5 times to really get that seasoning into it, right?
