Some bugs are delicious. Crickets in particular are kind of like popcorn and I would happily eat them. I didn't like the silkworms I tried, though.
About an hour ago my sister’s cat jumped off a tree and attacked my face. Fortunately a family member’s mother is a pediatrician and said it doesn’t look deep enough for stitches, just gave the scratches a thorough cleaning with alcohol. Good reminder that facial wounds bleed like crazy though, even ones in the beard. I *almost* had another hospital story for you fucks edit: before anyone gets to it, yes I know a pussy attacked my face
Oh, have no fear, I expect to hear a great story about some good old Cat Scratch Fever coming on soon... I still have faith in you.
Sneaking in just in time to say a late Merry Christmas to all! It was a great but busy day here, and I hope it was for you fellow Idiots as well.
I hope you enjoyed your ride on Snowpiercer. Why would you do that willingly? You can just eat popcorn instead of something with a disgusting exoskeleton.
Just to try it. I was in Cambodia and they serve them out of street carts there, mostly pan fried. Figured I'd see what the fuss was. Also tried tarantulas while I was there, which I can't recommend - except maybe for the novel experience of trying to overcome the part of your brain that's screaming at you to not put it in your mouth.
Im a legit arachnophobic. Had a guy just reach a tarantula shed my way at a petstore at the mall once and almost passed out. It was just a shed. Funny that "eating bugs" is a new right wing bogeyman. I remember a decade ago or so reading that crickets per pound where a very cheap source or protein and it was just American's revulsion of eating bugs that was holding back a lucrative industry in the states. For a while I had those day dream business ideas I thought about floating to my brothers. Then apparently the World Economic Forum wants you to rent TVs and eat bugs and it's an idea I couldnt imagine bringing up now. Back to thinking up another BrewPub idea.
Question for the board: What is the actual name for this detail work on the exterior of old houses? And speaking of old houses, I'm tempted to buy this one just for the floor, it's absolutely stunning.
Next time I drink alcohol, I'll try them and give an update. It will take alcohol. I had to be drink for my first sushi/sashimi, but I love that stuff. I see very little difference in land bugs and some seafood that I love... Shrimp, lobster, crawdads... they might be more meaty than land bugs.
Not sure you saw that we’re processing billions of crickets right here in town. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/london/cricket-farm-london-ontario-1.6506606
So Southwest is fucking up big time. They've cancelled almost 2700 flights today, which is two thirds of their inventory. It's not storm related either, as American, Delta, and United aren't having nearly the same issues. Reports of planes at the gates with no crews to load and/or fly them. The baggage situation alone is a nightmare.
Nephew had to go pick up his inlaws from Vegas and drive back to Billings, MT because of southwest not having flight attendants.
People drastically underestimate the insane complexity that comes with airline/crew scheduling. Normally, it's pretty fucking hard. Get a bunch of closures, and equipment/crew in the wrong spot? It's a fucking nightmare. When you don't invest in that logistical capability, or the resources to help (you don't have enough flex aircraft or crew in the mix), then shit just grinds to a halt and you're fucked. Probably the biggest problem all airlines are going to hit right now is their crew timing out, which is when they use up all of their "allowed to fly X hours in a 24 hour period" hours and have none left. This includes in-cabin crew as well, not just pilots. At some point it's just going to be easier to just cancel everything, stop trying to "fix the previous schedule", and start from scratch with the whole fleet. That very well may be what they've decided to do right now... and it's not a quick fix. Regardless, it's pretty easy to judge them from here at home half drunk while cooking dinner. SOOO glad we didn't go anywhere for this Christmas... just 2 blocks away to visit my sister, and she came here.
The less people that realize this, the better. I ghoulishly enjoy watching videos of people get fucked up by air marshals or forcibly removed from planes. Some people can’t comprehend submitting to an ultimate authority in a given environment (like a pilot) and I take pleasure in their comeuppance.
The news right now is full of people whining about not being able to get home and blaming the airlines. What the fuck are the airlines supposed to do? Airports are closed due to unprecedented weather. It’s not their fault. I would quit if I was working the front line for airlines right now. Either that or I’d be killing people.
