The issue is that Southwest is creating issues well above and beyond the weather. American has zero cancellations today, while Southwest has nearly three thousand. Southwest could be operating most of its routes if they were staffed properly.
It’s always surprising that people don’t bake the potential for travel delays or disruptions into their planning, or simply just making the best of it. Some of my memorable travel experiences have been due to unexpected connecting flight cancellations.
My sister flew out of DIA to SFO the other day, and she said it was the most bizarre sight. People just setting up basic tent camps everywhere; others racking up multiple hundreds in bar tabs at restaurants. She watched 3 girls pass a bottle from the duty-free shop, while they washed their hair in the bathroom.

Sounds like they are using a fucked up crew scheduling system that is phone based and just can’t handle the sheer amount of rescheduling that has to happen.
Yet time and time again the taxpayers have bailed these assholes out. And I’ve no doubt they’ll be crying with their hands out again soon.
