Would have been funny that if instead of pardoning a turkey, Biden pulled out a 1911 and blew the bird’s head off, while wearing the aviators.
I can't get over the contrast in the "official" names for world cup teams: France: Le Bleu Australia: The Socceroos
While some units such as Navy Seals contined to use the 1911, it hasn't been standard issue to conventional units since the mid 80s when Beretta's M9, also known as the 92FS replaced it. The M9 has since been replaced with the Sig Sauer M17/18, which is derived from their P320. Individuals don't get to pick and choose the sidearm they're issued to carry. Speciality units such SEALS demonstrate a need/reason as to why they want to use a nonstandard issue weapon and their mission sets will allow for it.
I'm not a fan of open slides like the M9 has. After carrying one in Iraq, I was even less a fan...it allows for a lot more dust to enter.
Good enough a 110yrs ago. A lot of people inadvertently shot themselves or others due to the difficulty in decocking it and that it's single action (inability to fire when decocked). Also, unless you spend A LOT of money, they're not that accurate out of the box and even then are somewhat temperamental as far as feed & firing issues.
Can say I’ve put too many rounds through my grandpa’s or brother’s shitty llama 1911. I’ve never had feed or firing issues. They should have went with the HK Mark 23 if they wanted an oversized.45.
heads up for anyone with young children: there is an increasing shortage of children's medication, due to a worse than expected flu season and supply chain issues. Both my boys aren't feeling that great and we had major issues finding even OTC meds. Finally found some children's tylenol and motrin at target. My sister's shipt shopper had to go to three different HEBs yesterday because the shelves were wiped out
Canada has been wiped out for a while, to the point that the government has stepped in to arrange delivery in some places.
I had to spend a couple k in FSA dollars a few months ago when hubs got laid off. A year's worth of funds spent in a couple months. I'm glad because we have a ton of kids Tylenol and Pedialyte, as well as that super amazing ear thermometer.... Because my kiddo caught something this week too. I'm thinking it was the flu if anything. No upper respiratory symptoms at all, just spiking a high fever, feeling bad, and vomiting a lot one night.
From what I understand from my short stint in the hospital, talking to doctors, the cold/flu shit that is making the rounds this year is having a harder impact due to people not getting it as much over the past couple of years because of COVID protections. Apparently the body's defences are reduced a bit as a result, and the flu has a bigger impact. I had no idea.
Both my boys are down with what looks like the same thing. Could have sworn it was the flu, but tested negative for that and Covid. Some nieces and nephews got the same.
We had something that made me hate life for about a week. I'm still not 100%, after two weeks. It wasn't flu or covid, according to tests, but I did have a complete loss of smell. When I could breathe thru my nose, that is.
Damn Black Friday deals hitting early on amazon. Just grabbed a dewalt router for 33% off and a callaway range finder for 43% off.
Nearly killed my daughter when she was a toddler, she was in the hospital for two weeks. It is absolutely, positively no joke. She was that close.
