I swear, these last minute negotiations between MLB and the Union are like me doing college term papers. Why wait until the last minute?! Ugh.

I want to find the window to Manfred’s office after eating a bushel of asparagus and just start pissing on his head while he’s at his teak wood desk. And as he turns to yell at me I direct the stream down his throat.

I don't like the universal DH, but at least they got rid of the fucking zombie runner and went back to 9 inning games for double headers.

Yeah. I liked having the two leagues with different rules, it gave everybody what they want.

At least it’s back. And fuck Manfred.

I used to be vehemently opposed to the DH, but I have gotten to the point where it's something that I don't like in principle but do support in practice. I think that the universal DH is the right move.

And I am also glad that baseball will be back! It would be sad to see Mike Trout and some others lose more of their primes over this.

Man, I am going to miss Freddie Freeman. But, business wise? Pretty good deal. The Braves offered Freeman $135 for 5 years, which he rejected, reportedly wanting a 6 year deal. If the Braves had added that 6th year at the same rate, it'd be 6 years for $162 million, and Freeman would be 37. They locked up Matt Olson for $168 million for 8 years, when Olson will be 35. Olson should put up similar power numbers and like Freeman, is a gold glove first baseman.

Freddie definitely hits for higher average, and one thing I will really miss seeing, is in 2023 when they ban infield shifts. He'll probably hit .330. Dodgers / Red Sox / Blue Jays, whomever gets Freeman, you are getting a class act man, in addition to the future hall of fame numbers.

Are there any Tampa Bay fans on here?

Do you ever get used to your GM not making any sort of exciting offseason moves?

As a Red Sox fan, I would at least like to see some sort of action. But now it’s like Boston is always listed as a “top team in contention” for a good player, and then we just hope these affordable guys who were out for injuries end up bouncing back. Bloom impressed me last year, though, so I hope he’s got a handle on it this year too.

Red Sox sign Trevor Story. So that pretty much guarantees Bogaerts opts out after this year, which was highly expected anyway.

Correa to the Twins was a surprise, but from all the conditions in his contract, it sounds like he can pretty much be a FA again when there isn’t a lockout fucking things up.

Yep. And Boras is his agent, so you know he'll test FA again, unless he gets hurt.

    What the fucking fuck.

Zombie runner is back, and pitchers can be DH after being pulled from the mound.

Are we also playing ”Throw the Bat” to see who’s up first?

    Weird stat stuff:
Sammy Sosa hit 50 or more home runs in 4 seasons, and in 3 of those he broke 60. The only season he lead the league was when he hit 50 even.
Barry Bonds hit 50 or more only once: the year he hit 77.

Brady Anderson is my favourite. He never hits ten homers runs in a season then hits what, 51?

Or while on Baltimore we have Chris Davis: “Okay, contact is signed…. time to stop trying at all.”

Yeah. The obvious steroid era was so weird. Lots of guys were juicing, but only Sosa broke Roger Maris's 61 HR in a season 3 times. Such a strange career.

I'm excited for opening day (Finally!) tomorrow, but it looks like a lot of the games are going to be rained out. But, hey . . . baseball!

    Fucking baseball motherfuckers.

I think for this season, I'm going to "unlike" the Red Sox on facebook. I can't keep myself from looking at the comments, and good God, the fanbase is insufferable.
