Every fucking game, man. They score early and piss it away. Or, they score late when they’re already knocked out.
When things are going your way.... The Angels threw a kid out tonight to start against the A's. His first big league game, his 9th professional start. 6 IP 1H 0 R.
Yep, first game of a double header the Athletics are down 3-1 to the bottom of the ninth. Three run home run later and finally the Athletics have beaten someone decent. Time to watch game 2 and headed to watch the series final in Oakland tomorrow.
Seriously. I’d rather you guys get a new stadium than Toronto. At least Skydome is still in great condition. The A’s deserve at least that as a franchise.
The Oakland Athletics need a new ownership group much more than they need a new stadium or anything else. The poor attendance on some games is a reflection that the fans are just tired of this ownerships bullshit.
When I played ball, I had a fairly strong arm. But throwing the ball +350 feet into the stands, no crow hop? That's just an elite talent that very, very few people have. https://twitter.com/PaulByrd36/status/1531413519203180545?t=5d-T9zVmBaMFl14C9mLorg&s=19
The whole team went into a collective slump, with Trout hanging up an 0-26 himself. They've been horrible. Trout was just starting to hit again and had to leave the game tonight with groin tightness, so I expect it to continue. Thor was good last night, but lost 1-0.
The Red Sox have discovered that elusive secret: playing well can lead to wins! The other secret is “bullpen can’t blow it if you don’t use your bullpen.”
Proving once again that he's not human, last night Ohtani hit 2 HR and drove in 8. Tonight he went out and pitched 8 shut out innings with 13 K's. I am so glad I get to watch him day in and day out, there are not enough superlatives to describe how amazing he is.
The M's and Angels just had probably the most intense dust up I've ever seen on the field. The game has been halted 20 minutes or so and they're just now trying to figure out who gets tossed. And it's only the top of the 2nd.
That's the first time I've seen the batter (Winker) turn and go for the manager (Nevin) instead of charging the mound. And, then Anthony Rendon, with his arm in a cast, stepping in to shove Winker from getting to the Angel's bench.
So yesterday, Mike Trout bitched about a pitch from a Mariners reliever that was having control issues that game. Today, manager Phil Nevin starts a rookie pitcher as an opener, for I'm sure what was a legitimate reason. Said Angels pitcher nearly beaned Julio Rodriguez, the Mariners best player, on the head in the first inning. The following Mariners inning, no retaliation from Mariners pitcher. Top of the second, Angels hit Winker. Fuck the Angels.
Lots of suspensions, led by 10 games for Nevin. They pinned intentionally throwing at Winker while a warning was in place on him - they must have had some straight up clear evidence of him directing the pitcher to do it. I've never seen that.
