His drug consumption does boggle the mind. I mean other than Keith Richards I dont know anyone who has strung together this many decades of hardcore polydrug use living.
Richard Belzer. 70s comedian and Law and Order alum. The other 70s comedian named Richard to look out for is Richard Lewis. Curb's ultra high def last season made him look like he has both feet in the grave. He definitely looks like his drug using days have caught up with him.
Belzer had an interesting career. Playing one miserable character over the course of seven TV shows. Talk about a cakewalk. Does anybody remember his body hitting the floor when Hulk Hogan legit choked him out? Brutal shit.
Steve Earle. Steve Earle could have killed 100 people with his partying, and still outlives his own son.
John Munch existed solely to connect fictional universes together. The X-Files takes place in the same universe as Law and Order, but also The Wire (and Arrested Development, technically).
Michael Rhodes Maybe not a hugely known name, but he was THE in-demand bass player in Nashville, and played with so many artists. I got to meet him several times (he had done sessions for the artist I toured with) and he was incredibly nice, and an amazing talent. His playing was never over the top, and just grooved so well. Here’s a track he played on by Pat McLaughlin, an accomplished songwriter in Nashville. I love this groove, and his bass playing just cements it. And here’s a video for @Nettdata - Michael Rhodes in Joe Bonamassa’s band, with Eric Gales.
Yep. Love all that “Joe on a Blues Cruise” footage. Loving even more that Joe is producing Eric’s latest albums. Last few concert videos Joe posted didn’t have Rhodes in it and I was disappointed. I guess I know why now. Real shame, even in his 70’s dude was a powerhouse.
Linda Kasabian. Manson Family member who testified against the group. Just saw it reported the other day but she died a month ago.
David Lindley. Saw him and Ry Cooder rip it up one night in Vancouver… one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. https://theprovince.com/entertainme...wcm/cb1fa9e6-abc1-433a-bf8b-c85642f1f695/amp/
I just saw that Gary Rossington passed away on March 5th at age 71. He was the guitarist for Lynard Skynard and the band's last surviving founding member. He also survived the plane crash that killed a few of its members. I also went to middle school and high school with his 2 daughters, though I didn't know either of them all that well.
Robert Blake. Acquitted of killing his wife by claiming he was picking up a different gun in a restaurant they were just at. Also Little Rascal and tv actor.
Lance Reddick of John Wick, the Wire and Fringe has died. https://www.tmz.com/2023/03/17/the-wire-star-lance-reddick-dead-dies/
Brian Gillis, who was one of the founding members of LFO, the band best known for the song "Summer Girls," died on March 29th at the age of 47. Strange that three members of that group have passed away.
