I was surprised to see that he hasn’t umped a game since May 9th…so it looks like he was maybe being pushed out and given the option to “retire.” Maybe MLB finally said “listen, you suck, you gotta go, here’s what we’ll give you, and if you don’t want it we’ll gladly pay the legal fees to fight the union, because you are that bad.”
Oh, they already said that. Officially. In order to defend themselves in the lawsuit, which MLB won, they had to prove it wasn't racial bias that kept them from promoting him or letting him umpire World Series games. It was just that he sucked. So, they had to back that up in court, and they did.
I can't imagine having the gall to claim that you aren't being promoted because of you race when a third of the league is Latino
What an embarrassing way to lose a lawsuit. Like when Screech tried to sue that guy for making the “International Sex Symbol Dustin Diamond” website—- the accused had to prove it was done in humour, and then end result was (and I’m paraphrasing here) “Yes, this man seems unfuckable. Lawsuit dismissed.”
Oh, dang, if only Tucupita Marcano had a better interpreter. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40275531/tucupita-marcano-gets-life-mlb-ban-betting-baseball
This is kind of amazing: Tim Lincecum has 2 Cy Young Awards and 3 World Series Rings. He was crazy good during a few years. He retired 7 years ago. Max Scherzer is the same age and is joining the Rangers rotation after his most recent rehab start.
Grant Holmes was drafted by the LA Dodgers and has spent the past 10 years bouncing around the minor leagues. The Braves called him up for his MLB debut today, and he came in the game as a relief pitcher. He struck out the first batter he faced, then got ground out, pop out. His Dad was in the stands. Awesome. Check out this lettuce: https://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/mlb/players/full/33840.png
Braves continue to flop around in mediocrity and face bad luck with injuries, but somehow are staying in the Wildcard hunt. But, Cease threw a no-hitter today for the Padres. I love that, no matter what team. Cheers, bro. https://www.mlb.com/news/dylan-cease-throws-no-hitter
It is just INSANE. This is 1980’s Cleveland Indians-level of sucking at baseball. Oakland no longer is the saddest thing in the MLB. They are completely stealing my Jays’ shitty thunder right now. 41 games out of first place. Have you ever heard of such a thing?
I would love to know what sort of clubhouse talk you could even have. Or are they just punching the clock now?
I don't know how many of y'all get MLB Network, but set your VCR, so to speak, for this Sunday at 8PM eastern. "One Of A Kind" feature special on Greg Maddux. Should be really good. https://twitter.com/MLBNetwork/stat....com/news/greg-maddux-documentary-mlb-network
It was good. Really neat break down of an at-bat of Barry Bonds vs. Maddux, watching them both comment on it. Also, Barry Bonds is 60 and looks like he could step into the box today and hit 40 HR and hit .290. With National League also having DH, man, there are some teams that could use him. And, I bet he'd sell some tickets. I'm not even kidding. And, if anybody else likes baseball quirks . . . today's game, Danny Jansen plays for two teams in the same game. https://www.mlb.com/news/danny-jansen-plays-for-two-teams-in-same-game It's actually not that improbable, and I'm surprised it had never happened before.
https://apple.news/Aa-WzLJoaQfa1r3JNqizHlA Catcher tips opposing batters to pitches. Not major leagues, but interesting. This guy just bought himself a one way ticket to oblivion.
He wanted the season to be over? lol, wish granted Man, being a decent backstop is just about the fastest way to the majors. Idiot. People would kill to be in his shoes.
