I can see the pacer failing and him dropping dead in the mud room. Doesn’t explain her though.

Gene Hackman cause of death revealed.

Wife died a week earlier due to the Hanta virus, and he stumbled around with full blown dementia.

Damn hard way to go out.

I didn't know he had advanced dementia. Really unfortunate that his wife died in the home with Gene in that state.

I meant to say Alzheimers, but said dementia. Not sure if the difference is really all that notable.

Surprised they didn’t have help if he was that advanced. We think my grandparents hid my grandmas diagnosis a couple of years but once it really kicked in my grandad couldn’t handle her by himself. She wondered off a few times in the middle of the night. She had to go to a special care facility. Maybe he was just so old and feeble she could manage it. Sad situation.

Cancer and dementia are the two worst ways to go out.

Someone brought up the horrific possibility that because of Hackman's dementia, he could have discovered his wife's dead body as frequently as every ten minutes, before forgetting it again and repeating the cycle, for a week straight.

I just found out that Richard Norton, an Australian actor and martial artist, passed away at age 75 on March 30. He had been in films with Chuck Norris and Jackie Chan.

A reminder that I really need to sit down and rewatch the original Shogun at some point.
