LeBron is a great defender, but I'd be more impressed if he wasn't usually guarding the worst of the other team's three frontcourt players. That's their biggest advantage over Indiana. George is going to guard LeBron all game while Battier guards George on the other end.
I hate agreeing with Nom, but God help me, Jordan was a bigger prick. The difference was Jordan was a bully who hid behind a very carefully crafted PR machine. His Hall of Fame speech sums his attitude up nicely. LeBron is more of a media whore though, it seems like he loves the media stroking his ego, while Jordan used personal competition between him and someone else to get off. There still is time for Jordan to go to jail, but he may have to kill a couple of people considering how much money he has now.
Sorry man, growing up in Chicago as a Bulls fan. Everything Nom and dieformetal has said is 100% true. Michael Jordan drove all his teammates insane, as there was no such thing as losing, it was never okay, there was never laughing about it. I mean fuck, look at that video. Michael Jordan culminated in hate. There is that rumor that Michael Jordan went to play baseball because it was secretly a suspension from gambling. I'd bet $2000 on that being true after all the stuff that has come out over time. ESPECIALLY after watching that video, watch the Horace Grant podcast he did with Bill Simmons and the Steve Kerr podcast. Michael Jordan makes Kobe Bryant look like a fucking kitten. I love Michael Jordan. But man I'd hate to be on his bad side.
But LeBron keeps it mostly on the court or in reference to the sport. Michael Jordan is just a shitty human being to anyone besides hot women.
I don't feel like clicking links today. What the fuck is this "ban bossy" shit that has taken over my news feed?
The first lines on their website: <a class="postlink" href="http://banbossy.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://banbossy.com/</a>
From the website: "The confidence gap starts early. Between elementary and high school, girls’ self–esteem drops 3.5 times more than boys’." How the fuck do you even quantify self-esteem drops?
The way they quantify this stuff is a little whacky. I read a study sort of along the same lines as this that showed girls are more likely to give up if something is difficult and boys will work through it. They surmise that this is because young boys are often fidgety and the sort of things parents and teachers tell them to get them to do school work are things like, "If you'd just take the time to read it you would learn it" which encourages kids to work hard toward their goals, while young girls are told how smart they are when they do something right, which causes them to have this unrealized belief that their intelligence is innate and sort of removed from hard work. I can see some merit in this and it is kind of interesting to think about.
I think a great start to this movement would be to start by defining bitchy vs bossy. And to not blame men for the problem of women who try to overcompensate for lack of leadership skills by being bitchy to accomplish the same goals. I had a female boss years ago who was an amazing leader who had the respect of the entire crew. It was because she knew her shit and had a reasonable way of leading people that wasn't about gaining respect through fear or anger. It was that she treated people like they had a brain and lead by example. She wouldn't ask anyone to do anything that she wouldn't do herself.
