Proving abuse of prescribed meds is very hard to do here, guys take pain meds here daily, heavy equipment mechanics tend to be banged up.

I'm stoked for him. The test batch I had was killer. 99 proof. They will be working on Texas Whiskey in the next couple years.

A coworker witnessed one of our customers (the same guy that was arrested for threatening his wife with a sword--he scares me) get his oxycontin prescription, walk out and hand it over to someone in a truck for cash. Cops were called, statements made, and the guy's doctor was called. Doctor response? Nothing. We pretty much know which doctor people should go to for scripts. All that stuff makes me want to do is sleep. I can't even imagine operating heavy equipment.

On an unrelated note, I've got some Percocets and Valium, cheap.

    Kidding.

    They're actually expensive.

The bar down the street sells $8 pitchers of Yuengling...singles are $1.50.
They love Merle, Waylon, George, and Elvis, and sing the songs when I play them.

    It feels like...home.

Not HIPAA, but clinical guidelines, she is a nurse (we'll call her M for muppet), I am NP so she is supposed to follow my orders (and that is orders as in a clinical sense...I write orders, order labs, etc, not orders as in a power hungry sense). Here is short yet still long version as it gets complicated even beyond this. For background we are a NP run clinic with a physician only for a few hours a week. While we can obviously use our clinical judgement, we need to follow either policies signed off by our physicians or well documented clinical guidelines based on evidence based practice. The physician review a percentage of our charts each week and hold us to this standard. This issue involved a patient that I initially saw last week but couldn't do as the patient wished because it violated our clinic policy. I had even discussed it with my manager because I WANTED to help, but we couldn't find a way while following policy. I told her we needed to get previous records from her old physician before we could treat her as she was requesting. All of this I had documented clearly in her chart, including what was needed for treatment, how we would treat, that I had gotten a signed consent, etc.

The patient returned to the clinic several days later. I had seen her on the schedule and discussed with one of the other nurses that we needed her records so assumed that she had brought them with her. That nurse was at lunch when the patient was scheduled so passed on my message to M. After M roomed and talked to the patient, she came out to the NP station where I was sitting with another NP. She called the other NP into the room and told her that she needed her help with the patient (at this point I was oblivious that this was the patient they were seeing). So a few minutes later I see the patient leave so asked the other NP what that was all about. She tells me that M asked if she would write the order the patient was requesting, which she did because she took M at her word and didn't read my note. So, M deliberately went behind my back knowing that I had been working with this patient, ignored my plan, and involved another NP who would be the one held responsible if anything went wrong.

I told my boss and he discussed it with her. This is where she lied. She lied blatantly, first by saying that she hadn't read my note (which would be negligible but to be honest I would prefer an honest mistake like that to deliberate actions) but then contradicting herself by discussing something I had put in the note. So basically she was caught lying so her way to cover her ass was trying to turn the blame to me by saying I was being "devious" and she had to be a patient advocate and do what was right by the patient (which I had also tried to do). Then she went so far as to say she wouldn't log onto the network on the computer in the patient's rooms (as the RN's typically do) because she didn't want anything that I did "on her account" despite the fact that the only thing that we use in the rooms is the charting system which we log into. My manager told her that making those sorts of accusations was very serious and wouldn't be taken lightly and he wanted to discuss with the two of us together. M refused.

So I hear all this and obviously get more and more heated last night while I stew on the facts that not only did she undermine me, she is questioning my integrity. So when I get to work today, I start to go through my charts from after "the incident" with a fine tooth comb and find a couple of things that are suspicious, things that I ordered that M didn't do. I ask her, she shrugs and says "I must have forgot". So that is where I go back to manager. And this is where he tells me that yes, he wouldn't be surprised if M was doing it deliberately in the hopes of getting back at me. This is where he asks me to let him know because he needs to build a case for termination (not surprisingly this is not the first problem with M). I am in clinic full time working with M, he is not, and he wants clinical evidence. So this is why he has asked me to provide examples, not to make me a snitch or tattle tale but because of my job role. So while I feel a bit guilty about it, basically every little passive aggressive thing that she does will essentially be her putting another nail in her own coffin. And what she is doing doesn't just impact me, but it could also adversely affect a patient.

After typing all of this I have no idea why i feel guilty about this. Fuck that bitch.

I would hope her parents have the decency to lock her in the trunk of a car and drive her off the boat ramp. I don't (at least I hope I don't) know a person that would devastated if they crippled somebody with their car, or even bumped them for that matter. Her parents either are the kind that buy her love and impunity, or raped her while wearing clown masks.

My sister was a roadie for a while, my brother in law was a fairly successful rider, that said riding on the road is fucking sketchy because of people like her. Some people think mountain biking is more dangerous than riding the road, but its not even in the same league. When you ride a mountain bike you are constantly assessing risk. You get to decide if you attempt terrain or not. If you get hurt its your own dam fault.

Riding the road, its, it unpredictable. You never know when some asshole in a car is going to run you off the road, or when some elderly woman simply won't see you and run you over. When you're riding the road, there are always these 3 ton monsters looking to run you over. Its super sketchy, I'm not sure I'll ever do it.

Crownie, aren't you coming to Florida soon? Ocala is less than an hour from Disney.

Mother on crack binge gives birth to premature baby in tub.

This story has EVERYTHING. You have to be determined as fuck to chew through your own umbilical cord.

I've been riding road bikes the last few years. The only reason I feel comfortable enough to do it is that I live in a small town where I'm basically five minutes from cottage country where there's minimal traffic. The year before that I was in a small town in Germany, and drivers were very good about yielding to cyclists, and there were plenty of bike lanes separated from the roads. But anywhere near a large city in Canada, I'd probably have to put the bike in the car and drive out somewhere that was more conducive to riding.

Some guy in this town was killed last year while riding along the highway (it's a regional, non-divided, non-controlled access highway). Apparently he got sucked under a tractor trailer due to the low air pressure.

My only question is: how could that NOT have happened in Florida?

I just read an article about a toddler that went missing from his home.and it was found inside a claw vending game at a bowling alley. There was a picture of the kid inside the machine and everything. The weirdest part? It happened in Nebraska. NOT Florida.

Here we have state with snakes the size of Boeing aircraft, Mosquitos that carry machine guns and even the most prolific losers are allowed to murder at least one child in cold blood if the case goes to the press. There are fan-boats, hot girls, tons filthy low-life bikers, the world's busiest cocaine corridor, theme parks that force employees to swim with natural born killer animals, space launches, Crockett..... AND Tubbs.

Deland is nice though. My friend lives there and never leaves that town unless necessary because (quoting him) "I'll kill everyone I these fucking lowlifes and then myself".

    Wha chew talkin bout?

Does smoking crack all day give you the munchies? If that story were used in a crime TV show, people would roll their eyes at how ridiculously unbelievable it is. At this point, a writer could just pretty much make up anything, and add "based on a true story" or "ripped from the headlines" or whatever. Apart from Bigfoot actually existing or aliens landing with lasers, there isn't much I could read that would shock me anymore.

    Ferry Godmother

So, this ferry in Korea . . . the Captain skipped off the boat early and is now hiding, and the vice-principal has hung himself while in refuge on the nearby island?

Speaking of "you can't make this stuff up" . . .

Rush, if you told me a inter-dimensional porthole ripped opened in the sky and a twelve-dick RapeDemon crawled through it I would believe it provided you told me it happened in Florida.

Black Jeez: November 1st in when we come down, although we're staying right on Disney this time so I don't even know if I'll get to the Waffle House. I WILL pay for a cab ride to Pirate's Cove Mini-golf though that place was amazing.

I used to ride to and from home, classes, and work around campus and the neighborhood during college when there wasn't ice on the roads. Just got my bike out for the first time this year last weekend. Minneapolis is a bike friendly city for the most part but there is still a lot of traffic in the area so you have to keep your head on a swivel. Sadly in the past few years a student has been killed while riding in the area nearly every year, it seems. Lots still ride like dumbasses and blow through stop signs, ignore cars around them, blast music in their ears, and give everyone else a bad name. They can shove their fixies and cruisers up their asses. You have to be extra aware when there's people in a rush, texting in traffic etc. even when you have the right of way. A Smith and Wesson beats four aces.

My girlfriend and I are running a 5k tomorrow morning, it'll be her first. I haven't ran one since my senior year of High School and we aren't going for any time, but it will still be something. The forecast has temps in the 40s with a chance of rain, yeehaw.

I think it's safe to say beer counts for carb loading. What would be ideal then? A thick stout? Malty bock? Or should we visit the Belgian brewery just across the river? Or just crush Hamm's until I piss my pants and can't tie my shoes?
