Jebus. Tapatalk doesn't give a shit about spoiler tags. Thank god I didn't click refresh while I was sitting in that client training session, that might have required some explanation. A flash of titty and a sudden slamming down of the phone? Classy.
Dude, I asked you to keep my shenanigans on the DL. I just got a Facebook invite from my 92 year old grandmother. This can't be good.
Damn you Onion, well done once again- "Tsarnaev Posts Bail". <a class="postlink" href="http://www.theonion.com/articles/dzhokar-tsarnaev-posts-bail,32184/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.theonion.com/articles/dzhoka ... ail,32184/</a> Time to fuck with idiots on Facebook.
Here's a decent run-down of why Sonnen is an asshole, but you basically have to take some of the links the writer draws with a grain of salt: <a class="postlink" href="http://deadspin.com/chael-sonnen-the-ufcs-skip-bayless-race-baits-his-wa-474796344" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://deadspin.com/chael-sonnen-the-uf ... -474796344</a>
Why isn't it the weekend yet? By Wednesday I'm too tired to do anything but eat and fall into bed. Seriously.
Good read for sure, it's not Parkers column but still good stuff. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9175394/out-great-alone" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/917 ... reat-alone</a>
http://tv.yahoo.com/news/guillermo-del-toro-hatching-monster-series-hbo-222409266.html Fuck yes. I'm totally interested in this and hope it gets the green light.
Well tommorow gets to be an effective friday then off to a friends family cabin to hang out. Oh right forgot the labour cost. Buddy would like the old family cabin to have a new wrap around deck. Meh, free awesome cabin for a few hours of work for 2 afternoons and 3 nights plus a free day, not a bad trade, works last night booze out for the new afternoons booze.
I used to fucking hate walking around with my mom. At least once a day some fucker I didn't know would want to pet me. The worst part was they would ask her while I'm sitting there thinking "I can fucking speak and I don't want you touching me." The one time I objected I was told by my mom and the woman that I was being rude. Only one person tried when I was with my dad. He just looked at her crazy before firmly telling her no. If you have mixed kids and are white don't let people pet your kids. Its fucking annoying.
Am I the only one that sees this less as a racial issue and more as a "don't touch a stranger's hair, it's fucking creepy" issue? And I do feel bad for the reporter, she basically had to play it cool while somebody marginalized her for something she has no ability to change, but I still see it (when an average person does it in public) as more of a dumb curiosity thing than a racial thing. Maybe I'm biased because I'm white with curly/wavy hair and have had it done to me before.
It's creepy as hell. If a complete stranger wanted to pet my children I'd start looking for the nearest deep hole down which I could throw him.
It's not even just kids. I'm a grown ass man. A large grown ass man and people (Read: white folk) do it to me all the time. Move to Latin country? Never once has anyone asked.
Here's the thing -- In general, your hair might be something people comment on, or is important to you, every so often. For a black woman, on tv no less, it's probably an every day thing. If the way your hair looked sans chemicals was considered "ugly" and "unprofessional", you might be a little more taken aback when strangers felt compelled to grab at it. Imagine, for example, that you were a young asian person and people kept asking how you were able to see. Now, there are plenty of people from other races with narrow eyes, but because that particular feature is so racially coded, it takes a different dimension entirely. Honestly, at first I thought he was just being oafish, but the more I read about him, the less I feel like giving him the benefit of the doubt. PS -- Whenever a strange man requests to touch a woman he doesn't know, in a context where she might feel uncomfortable saying no, it's a gender issue.
Double post, because I can do stuff like that -- This happens all the time, so let me just be clear. Racist/sexist people don't spend their entire days going around being racist and sexist. They're allowed to do good in different instances. Non-racist/sexist people don't automatically get a pass because they're good people. Sometimes they fuck up. Once we can move past the idea that "you kind of fucked up" means "you're a terrible person", it'll be a lot easier to talk about these things. It's like getting caught with your fly down; it doesn't mean you're incapable of dressing yourself, it simply means that you made a small mistake, somebody pointed it out (probably in an effort to help you), and you can both agree and move on.
One time I took my kids to Red Rocks to play and there was a tour bus FULL of Chinese people. They mobbed my son Houston, who has Travis Fimmel blue eyes, and begged to take his picture. I asked him if he was okay with it and he was. Of course, he was five and felt like a celebrity, but it was awkward for me. It reminded me of being pregnant and strange women wanting to touch my belly. I was NOT okay with it, my personal space is important to me. At my job, I am consulted all the time about hair. I ALWAYS ask before I touch someone's hair (to determine texture or damage) and no one ever says no, no matter the ethnicity. But I still ask, because it would freak me out if someone just started grabbing at me.
