Absolutely, but whether or not it's a double standard (and it is) or fair is irrelevant. The fact is, for better or worse, it's reality. If you want that a solution to the problem you described above, the means to achieve that objective should reflect it. (I.e. don't be caught in a drunken gangbang when you're protesting against statutory rape and inebriation.) Is it morally just? Nope. It's just the way it is, and in a perception = reality culture, you're not going to convince people otherwise.
Broad can do what she wants but shouldn't hate if the things involved bring unsolicited judgment on her. Otherwise her response should be the following: Spoiler In other news: and also
This is an easy line to draw. The line is consent. That's it - no more, no less. Engaging in a consensual gangbang does not remove someone's credibility for arguing against rape. The comparison to a politician highlights the lack of understanding here - a politician arguing against gays is a hypocrite for being gay. A woman arguing against rape culture is not a hypocrite for having sex. She's not a hypocrite for engaging in a gangbang. She's not a hypocrite for enjoying sexual degradation (if it was present). She's not even a hypocrite for engaging in rape play with her consenting partner. She would be a hypocrite for raping someone. Do you understand the clear line here? Muddying the waters with, "well sure, but it's reality..." is simply apologizing for & allowing a shitty attitude to propagate.
And people shouldn't be all mean and stuff. But the reality as you state it is that even with your valid and moral argument you are 'living in a dream world, Neo'. This is the way people think. It distracts from the points being made even more so that its a woman making them. She was marginalized when she strapped on her bra this morning.
*Puts on serious Parker hat* I think we need to clear something up here. The girl who wrote the UConn article that zyron linked did NOT get gangbanged. Juicy brought up a separate story of a girl who was gangbanged, then went on to be part of the Women's Center. Let's call Juicy's girl "Sally", because there is a very important point I'd like to make. *Puts on serious Nom hat* First of all, being a anti-imperialist feminist (no idea what the fuck that is) does not mean she hates men. Or any feminist really. If they are heterosexual, I am sure they appreciate sex with men that have penises. My gf agrees with feminism and she doesn't hate men or me. She hates how women get caught in double standards and aren't taking seriously at certain aspects of life, namely the workplace. She is a huge fan of me and is attracted to various men she believes respect women. *Takes of serious Nom hat still has serious Parker hat on* This isn't a discussion about consensual sex at all or really rape culture. Pinkcup banging her ex, is different than this situation with Sally. The problem is, as Juicy sort of skimmed over, is that this girl is a feminist, and speaks out against the disrespect of women. What cannot be argued, if it is consensual, if the woman enjoyed it, if she was having the time of her life...is that a woman being gangbanged is being disrespected. Now she might be deriving pleasure from it, it might be her choice to be disrespected like that as people do get off on that sort of thing. But in the minds of the guys in the gangbang, unless at some hippie, free-love, free spirit, sexually open, utopia orgy enclave...they're disrespecting her. And 90% of the world will view her as disrespected. So it does in fact make Sally a hypocrite to go talk about feminist topics. For the record, rape is NOT a feminist topic, so don't strawman me there. And Rape play with someone you were formally in a loving committed relationship with, and are practically still exclusive with isn't a disrespectful act. The bottom line is you can't partake in a disrespectful act then write a letter about other people being disrespected. Now moving on to the whole college athlete dynamic involved. I went to a small fucking school (4K) where none of the players would even sniff the NBA. They were tall and wore basketball jerseys, and that's all they needed. There were girls chasing these guys all over the goddamn school. My favorite quote is a girl saying "I don't fuck walk-ons" for those who don't know, players who weren't recruited and don't have scholarships. Now if this happened at my little fucking school, think about any of these big name school where these guys could turn into money printers for "throwing a ball." I'd bet large sums of money that most (upwards of 80%) of the violent acts involving women and athletes involve the some of these girls finding out these athletes are fucking other girls and then physically attacking the athletes. It happens WAY more than you think. These girls see their perceived meal ticket threatened and they lose their shit. Or they really liked the guy, he may have lied about her being the only special princess, his love, and when she finds out its been a lie, can't handle it. I've seen a 5'2 115 lbs Italian girl go after a 6'7" 230lb black football player before and its EPIC. He's trying to defend himself, but not hurt her. She has a stiletto trying to go for his face. All because he was fucking another girl (well she found out about 1, probably was 30). Rape is about control and power, and college athletes have that shit in spades, no need to try and take it. These guys have it thrown at them by girls on campus all the time. Calling it an epidemic specific to college athletes is ridiculous. *takes off serious Parker hat* Whew, and DCC says we never discuss important things in the WDTs. Edit: Apparently my shitty school had one guy drafted who is now bench warming on the Houston Rockets, and another one that will probably get picked up in this years draft. Thanks Jwags. Point still stands.
This is the drunk thread motherfuckers. The DRUNK THREAD! Take that seriously depressing shit to one of the many serious threads we have, or create a new one. This thread is for titty gifs and drunk ramblings. Goddammit.
This is pure, unadulterated, horseshit of the highest order, and I think it has all kinds of misogynistic undertones. The issue is that someone can choose to participate in something, anything, and it is a consensual choice. I do not agree that it somehow subverts their authority to speak out about non-consensual sexual abuse, rape or disrespect. What most of these people are arguing is that the so-called "rape culture" promotes the idea that women do not have to consent. It has little to nothing to do with sex itself. What you are arguing is that your girlfriend enjoying you saying, "yeah, bitch, take it" during sex means that I can call her a bitch anywhere, any time, and laugh it off if she gets mad.
Spoilering for being more of diversion from drunkery: Spoiler I'm actually sympathetic to the idea that there is actually a moral imperative to not voluntarily associate with certain people, sexually or otherwise. But she was protesting rape, not gangbangs. This is only contradictory if she believes that THOSE FOOTBALL PLAYERS, specifically, raped someone. As far as has been said here, that is not the case. See above gif. Some people like getting dicked. Some people like getting dicked more than once simultaneously. And dudes like putting their dick in things. I don't know how you're getting all Ms. Cleo about everyone's disrespectful intentions. So consensual gangbang = automatic exploitative disrespect, consensual rape play = girls just wanna have fun. OK. That makes sense.
Today is my 30th birthday. Fellas, feel free to post in the TiBer thread and fill up my inbox accordingly. That is all.
Raise a glass o' shine tonight for George Jones, I know Hank 3 will be. Well I would have linked some music but fuck if youtube links hardly ever work for some reason.
No, still works. Note: The first one I linked started with an ad about getting toes amputated . . . what's gonna fill their shoes?
Hillbilly deluxe In other new toy related news...I knew when I bought this thing there was a box with 2 12" Kenwood subs in the back, but not hooked into the stereo. I was rummaging around and found a huge Kenwood amp all hooked up and ready to go. I'm about to make a lot of people angry with loud redneck music.
Is that what it is? I always thought they had to be a certain age older than the guy, like ten to twenty years give or take. Of course, there's a different terminology if you're a dude. I believe it's "disgusting old pervert" or "millionaire".
