Bruno Mars is this tiny James Brown fucked Prince dude. Helluva performer. His superbowl show was nuts. We need more people like him. So, he can do as many truckloads of blow as he wants. He is also shorter than Danny DeVito. This is some Lolly-Pop Guild stuff.

Anybody else want to see him fuck Taylor Swift? I kinda do. Then they could collaborate on the greatest break-up song of all time.

In other news I was out past 5 a.m. at the strip club. On a Tuesday. Apparently Social security mailed checks this week because half of Century Village was in the place wheezing on Brazilian human trafficking victims a quarter of their age.

Ha ha, you funny. A hack? Lol. Dude, if you don't like Adele, I understand it's not for everyone (although, anybody selling 30 million albums in today's digital downloads is impressively like everyone has it), but she's not a hack. Just about every song on 21 is fantastic, whether or not people think Rolling in the Deep sounds like Gimme Shelter. There are very few artists who can pull off a song like Rumour Has It, that is primarily just her voice and drums. I will admit that Rick Rubin had a lot to do with how well that album sounds, but she is much above "a decent voice."

    1. I love Bruno and think he's extremely talented. Plus, he puts on one hell of a stage show.
    2. Adele. I'm sorry but more than one of her songs I refer to as "slit your wrist" music.
    3. Joni Mitchell is in a coma.

I wasn't talking about Darius Rucker the country singer. I was talking about the band everybody was shocked had a black singer when they first saw the video for Let Her Cry.

Rucker's country stardom is his own (he also did R&B in between). But Hootie's fame faded faster than you can say "Word to your mother". It was crazy how within just a few months they went from the world's most popular band to having their albums sold at Dollar Stores and carwash clearance bins.

Really? Your big argument for Adele's awesomeness is 'Rumour Has It?' Seriously? You truly believe that 21, released without Rolling Stones Rip Off Song, sells 30 million? Or 3 million? On the strength of that song? I guess maybe it does, but my gut is it does the same as 19, which was about 2 million. She's got a good voice, and the songs are ok. She made her bones on a rip off song, and while I don't blame her, I'm not going to get on the 'Suck Her Awesome Cock Train' about how great she is beyond that one song. Why? Because she's not that great. Apple doesn't feature 'Rumour Has It' - and the commercial success doesn't follow. She has a nice hipster career, has a kid, and wanders off into obscurity.

Yep, you completely followed what I was saying. The one point I made using Rumour Has It was my whole argument. I was totally ignoring the fact that Someone Like You and Set Fire To The Rain were #1 singles, besides Rolling In The Deep. And, I was also ignoring giving her any credibility for co-writing and performance of Skyfall that won an Academy Award. And, ignoring that if Rolling In the Deep was all she had done, just that single would've been downloaded on iTunes and not the whole album. Her next album will also be #1, which actually doesn't really mean much. Lots of people will buy it expecting it to be big, so it'll be #1 simply on initial sales. However, she'll have at least three #1 singles off this next album as well. I suspect that the majority of people that enjoyed the radio play of Rolling in the Deep and purchased the album solely because of that song aren't even familiar with The Stones Gimme Shelter. Whether or not it's a ripoff of that song, it's a fallacy to claim she made her bones by ripping it off.

Holy moly! I had no idea Bruno Mars was a little person. That said, he is the most talented midget since Prince. I love him.

I caught on to Adele by hearing her sing, period. I can't tell you what song it was but her voice got me instantly. She reminded me of the classic female jazz vocalists who owned the world with their voice like Billie Holiday. Granted nobody in music including Adele compare to Holiday but considering the blathering, mindless (and super-popular) dreck that pisses out of pop radio's ass like Iggy, I'd say Adele is a sound for soar ears.

Ok, first of all, I own both albums. Just because I don't think she's all that doesn't mean she isn't good, she is. Grammy award? Again, fucking seriously? Milli Vanilli and Peaches and Herb both won Grammys. Not exactly the hallmark of awesomeness. Yes, she's sold a few albums (21 is about 5 mil) - but 'Rolling in the Deep' dragged 19 back into the charts. Yes, her next album will be a number one, but I'm seriously tired of the accolades heaped on this chick for 'having an awesome voice' - which, ok, is subjective, but I can think of at least 10 women off the top of my head that have better ones, and 'being an awesome songwriter' -which as you pointed out, has a lot to do with her producer. I'm not taking anything away from her, let's be clear. I'm just not being effusive in my compliments because she hasn't done anything on her own merit to put her in the rarified air of the Beatles or Stones, whom are both actually awesome. Maybe some day she will be too, but that day is not today.

Lol, my bad, dude. I didn't realize you were trolling. That's funny. You finally tipped me off when you said "Grammy" as I certainly wouldn't have used that in any defense. Normally, Oscars can be just as suspect, but since I was making the case for Skyfall about songwriting and not being on 21, I referenced that. Then your "5 mil" was where I knew you were just messing with me, since 21 has sold 30 million+. In case you are just drunk instead of trolling, when did I say she was in the rarified air of the Beatles or the Stones. Lol, they are in the rarest of rare air and have had much longer careers. That doesn't change the fact that Adele is very talented and has a fantastic voice.

For what it's worth, I would be big money that if she never released another song, Adele would be known for Someone Like You and not for "ripping off the Stones". And I don't think anyone is comparing her to the Stones or the Beatles and using the giddy ramblings of fan boys and girls who might do such things is poor form. She has a beautiful and unique voice with a lot of control, is an engaging personality, and released an album full of emotive songs that she had a significant hand in writing that destroyed the charts. She deserves the buzz she gets.

Yeah, but you could say most of those things about Miley Cyrus or Taylor Swift as well.

I never much cared for Adele because her songs were so formulaic. They start slow, soft, and sad, then have a chorus that gets slightly faster and louder until it builds to her almost screaming the hook, then it starts over with the next verse. I think it's the sudden drop in intensity between the chorus and next verse that people feel is emotional. She found that and exploited the hell out of it.

I'm just going to turn on the radio and listen to whichever song I find enjoyable and not give a shit whether it is formulaic, derivative, stolen, original, brilliant, awarded, applauded or derided.
