Finally trapped the coon that'd been tearing up our trash. Fat fucker. Soon as the gunshots rang out there were vultures overhead. Dinner bell.
I made the mistake of opening up Tinder today, and saw several women who had "stay at home mom" listed as their occupation. On a dating site. God I hate people.
North korea thinks they're gonna sink one of our carriers. That's cute. kim jung un must be fucking hammered.
I had the opposite problem on Bumble. Every chick was absolutely smoking hot and had a title like "partner track lawyer at impressive law firm" or "heart surgery resident at Cedars Sinai." It became clear pretty quickly that Bumble front loads everyone's experience with the absolute best women in a 50 mile radius who you have absolutely zero chance with.
You know those sites are notorious for bots right? I seriously wonder what percent of female profiles on tinder are real and not created by someone in India. I mention this because Ashley Madison got exposed for this.
There was a time last year where someone's bot script must have broken, because about half the profiles I saw were women in Columbus claiming to work for the New York Yankees.
I only had a brief fling with both Tinder and Bumble, but once I watched a guy friend use it and saw how many times he wasn't swiping/writing back because he just assumed the girls were bots for what I thought were crazy reasons (like they messaged him first and shortly after matching), I decided that I didn't hear from the very few guys I was interested in on each because my profile was clearly too good to be true and they just thought I was a bot. Now that's what I tell my friends who use them. It's a very comforting lie for all involved. Although now word has spread and girls are too afraid to message first on Tinder because they think they'll be confused for a bot and guys are too afraid to message first for whatever reason and now no one's talking to each other anymore. I don't know anyone who's gone on a Tinder or Bumble date in months.
I would have assumed at some point Tinder would just turn into a escort app. I like hisluts.com's strategy of using ad time to warn that their customers are responsible for protecting themselves against STDs. Interesting gambit hi slut.
Our restaurant made it on to HGTV's Island Living last night. (Well, not quite. They shot some b-roll from our deck and boardwalk.) They did do a nice job featuring our little rock though, although I think the prices they quoted for the home they were showing the couple were a bit inflated. Not crazy wrong, but $499k for a 1300sq/ft 3/2 ranch with a pool is a little much, even for here.
Tinder was BAD for awhile. But they've cleaned it up. The bots were pretty recognizable too. The same sort of pictures, always messaged first with some canned script that was never unique. I think the "girls aren't messaging first cause they think they will be mistaken for bots" is absolute bullshit. Just like most girls wont go up to a guy they find attractive in a bar, they assume they are supposed to be messaged first in an app like that. I can count on one hand the number of times Ive been messaged first on Tinder in the last 5 years. Bumble never had a bot issue. Bumble's problem is you have a countdown timer, so if you're a girl and you turn your notifications off, if you dont check daily, you're missing shit. And then, the aforementioned messaging expectation leads you have girls who dont want to message first, but have to because of the app set up, so they will do the bare minimum, and then its sputtering from the jump. Also, call me cynical, but I firmly believe girls like to be able to see and show how many matches they have on Bumble, cause otherwise there is no reason to send a message, sometimes even unique and thought out...and then never respond again. Id say a good half of the matches I have that don't time out, are one line convos that never get picked up again.
Well, I'm just talking about me and my friends, I don't know if that's at all a nationwide phenomenon. I guess not everyone has caught up to thinking the "guy has to message first" rule is outdated and lame. Although, hearing experiences from both the girls and guys side of things, despite listening to guys complain for years about the expectation to make the first move, the girl taking the lead still tends to be interpreted as only looking for something serious or desperate or too forward.
