Today I drove right over this stretch of highway in St. Paul that buckled and turned into a sweet ramp over the weekend: Some dickhead went and milled it all down so it's flat and boring again. Oh well.

I recall that playing like wildfire on Animal Planet back in the day. I think it was also in this gem.
Whether you are an Xbox One fan or not, those consoles can take a beating. They engineered out the whole red ring of death thing, but my console has a quirk whereby the console doesn't always read the game discs. If the disc is already in the console and you try to launch a game, nothing happens. If you eject and re-insert the disc, or try to start the game by inserting the disc, it doesn't always read it - just grunts once or twice and stops. So you have to finagle it, reinserting it multiple times, or putting it in ever so gently. Sometimes it works fine if you give it a little "jostle". So last weekend, after the umpteenth time of this shit, I gave it one fuck of a "jostle" by pounding on the console. Hard enough to crack the (admittedly shitty particle board) shelf it sits on. I inserted the disc, and was greeted by the rattling sound of a piece of plastic I had knocked loose spinning around inside - then the rattling stopped, the game started, and it has been working normally ever since. I still have to fix that shelf though.

Seems like it cut the head off the civil government in one fell swoop. "The mayor is taking a leave of absence due to personal and professional misconduct." "K, get the deputy mayor on the phone. She'll need to be brought up to speed." "No dice. She's flat out quitting, because she's the other half of the affair." This is like how in Battlestar Galactica the Minister of Education wound up in charge of the entire fleet. I guess the director of public works takes over? Also odd that the deputy quit but the mayor is on leave. You'd think that the person higher up the chain would take a bigger hit of the punishment.
