Anyone ever see Creep Show 2 where a giant blob comes out of the water and eats a bunch of swimmers so they have to hunker down on a raft and it picks them off one by one? I think about that every time I enter a lake.

I guess being raised on the Great Lakes has warped me. If I was visiting that resort with kids, it would never in a million years occur to me to be wary or afraid of that water. We can swim at night here, no problems. Same thing when I lived in rural Indonesia...in fact, that lagoon is not dissimilar to the yacht club that was near our houses in Indonesia.

So maybe some empathy for the parents, who are from fucking Nebraska. I've never been to Nebraska, but I don't think water is typically dangerous there, either.

No wonder all the craziest shit happens in Florida. A children's resort with a small, "No swimming" sign never thinks to tell the out-of-state visitors, "BTW, maneaters live in our pools, so maybe watch out for that."

We stayed at the Wilderness lodge and waded in the lagoon, providing a two for one deal for our fellow guests.

Absolutely. A friend of mine had a lake house on a big lake, but they were in a quiet cove. There was a floating dock like that in the middle of the cove.

We swam to it several times and I looked over my shoulder for a blob.

Pretty sure someone sold my contact info...I got a VM today from the "IRS" that I'm being sued. Later on, a missed call from Romania. Probably a huge coincidence, right?

I was going to write something snarky, but the perfect Rain Man quality of that post made me second guess everything. What am I doing with my life?

Apparently they think they need to eat us to turn into us, now. Princess and the Frog must've lied to those gators!

You only got two of those today? Lucky.

On an unrelated note, my small business just got approved for its 80th loan today. I should probably get around to actually starting it.

That shirt kind of makes me want to try.

Also, that raft bit from Creepshow 2 is based on Stephen King's short story, The Raft. It's worth checking out, I'm pretty sure it was in the same book as The Mist.
