But should her health insurance cover the cost of blackface makeup? I'm interested in the possibility that the identity politics folks might start eating each other.
My initial reaction to the first story that came out about the girl at Columbia was, that's terrible. Rape is a terrible thing that no one should have to endure. From that initial report, my feelings towards the case started to turn from sympathy, to questioning the narrative, to questioning the ongoing "art piece", to apathy. At the end of the day, everyone deals with their version of their reality in their own way. With that said, with something as traumatic as rape, I can't imagine turning that into an "art piece" that you are going to use as your senior project and then, move onto making a rape re-enactment video and release it on the internet. These things, in my opinion, are not the responses I would expect to see from a rape survivor. Granted, my earlier comment about people dealing with things in their own way, through their own reality, I obviously acknowledge she may be coping with this event in her own unique way. For me, as an outside observer, which honestly I shouldn't have access to this in any way, the logic side of my brain doesn't understand why someone would do this, which in turn makes me question the events that are purported. To Audrey, if I was your friend around the time your rape happened, I would probably question your story the exact same way with how the events unfolded. I would be highly skeptical that after so much time had passed, and how you reacted to it, you convinced yourself something happened that didn't. To be honest, that was my initial reaction after reading your post. It's not because I think you are a liar, but I personally can't comprehend your reaction and I internally try to resolve that, and what makes the most sense to me is, your reactions don't line up with what really happened so something must not be accurate. I'm sorry if that's horribly offensive to you, but perhaps it will shed some light on how people on the outside looking in can view something completely opposite to something you know to be 10000000% black and white.
In a similar vein, 8chan recently got excited for this guy, apparently trolling so hard his nation itself is bending over backwards for his comfort to be a "woman trapped in a man's body, who feels no need to mutilate his man-parts or wear girls clothes or make-up or whatever."
More or less the same for me. I hadn't heard of the story before this thread, and of course the fireworks got me interested... Shockingly, after 10 minutes of internet research, I came to the conclusion that I'm not qualified to make a ruling on the case. Seems like there very well could have been foul play, and it's really too bad how easy it seems to be for guys to get away with that sort of thing (whether this guy is guilty or not). BUT With the mattress stunt and video "art piece", I think she is setting herself up for people's first impression to be "oh boy, here we go..." That does not mean I condone calling her horrible names like many on the internet are doing, but I think it's unfair to expect everyone to respect and legitimize what's she's doing (the art aspect) because she might have been raped, and sorting through that trauma looks different for everyone. Maybe I just don't get it, but I think hauling a mattress around everywhere and posting hardcore porn as an art piece is ridiculous. I'm not going to pretend she's a hero or a visionary just because I feel bad about what happened to her. It doesn't make her any less credible in my eyes, I just think her art is dumb.
You know what? Fuck it. If we're now allowed to choose our gender and our ethnicity, I'm choosing my species. I'm now a buffalo. And as a buffalo I'm demanding the US government return my native homeland to me. The entire Great Plains. All of it. From North Dakota to the Mexican border. Now get off my grass (lands). I am buffalo, hear me grunt.
Will you be requiring any special accommodations at work? Maybe perhaps your own bathroom. How about name, would buffalo be appropriate or would you prefer a more species sensitive title? I imagine you'll be able to bring hay into the break room now because of your new lifestyle. If anyone has any problems with that they're simply species ignorant assholes. Be sure to go ahead and inform HR of your requests and I imagine they'll take care of it to the best of their abilities.
Except a buffalo doesn't have any special rights awarded it, other than protection from poaching in the wild. On a farm, game on. No animal has human rights. Thus the phrase "inalienable human rights." So congratulations. You either just turned yourself into a cheeseburger or a petting zoo ride. Honestly, I hope the latter because I believe your meat would be stringy as fuck. You'd have a better shot claiming to be American Indian. These sovereign citizen assholes are going about it all wrong. Whole wrong kind of racket, fellas. Holy crap would that cause some epic shit. You'd have hit squads coming off the reservation for you. And legally there's nothing anyone can say to refute it. But think of the lawsuits against your employer. Failed to supply me with a wigwam office? That's a suin'. No days off for my vision quest? That's a suin'. Random allotment for hangover days because white man raped my land and heritage? You better believe that's a suin'. Light incense on your desk every morning, cure deer jerky in the bathroom.
I think that everybody on 4chan who thinks it's an awesome idea to go through the expensive and tedious process of getting their gender legally changed should ABSOLUTELY do so. It would be the most epic troll of all time, especially the part where it would be significantly harder to get a job and people would be predisposed to hate you for no reason. No better lulz than realizing you've spent years of your life on a prank that gains you basically no benefit but also makes other people's lives harder.
Oh, Otherkin. *shudders* Since my screen-name is that of megafaunal-hunting wolf that preyed on bison, horses, camels, muskox, elk and other large herbivores in Pleistocene North America, I guess that means that as a bison stuck in a man's body, toytoy88 would be lawful prey to me as a dire wolf trapped in a man's body. We should go to court while I argue about my lawful right to eat my natural food. Anybody know a good lawyer?
How 4chan fancies itself. I would also just like to point out, that screen-cap is from 8chan, which is basically 4chan the sequel. With all the 'chans these days, it's hard to keep up with all the 'cancer' and 'lulz'
