In Denver? Awesome, I'll be gone then thankfully. The city has no idea they're coming I'm guessing. Hopefully DPD gets the memo and gets their riot gear ready. DPD does has a slight reputation for police brutality so it might get interesting.
Can someone explain to me the appeal of game of thrones? I've watched a few and its just not for me, or maybe thats just because I don't get the all the sub plots backstories etc. England has not had a good week. First Brexit won then Iceland. Wow
It's like a more confusing version of Lord of The Rings with added boobs and dicks. The nudity makes it more main stream. I dont get it either. But I don't like the fantasy genre at all, so I'm not the target market.
It's a medieval fantasy soap opera which, due to being on HBO, has the green light to have lots of violence and nudity. The medieval fantasy bit means it's going appeal to the Dungeons & Dragons set, the soap opera bit means it's going to appeal to the soap opera set, while the combination of the two means it's also going to appeal to people who like soap operas but would either never admit it to themselves or publicly admit to liking soap operas. The violence and nudity part means it's got a lot of appeal to the age 12-55 male demographic. So there you go.
The fantasy aspect isn't what sells me; it's how deep the character interactions are, how it doesn't pander to cliches, and its monstrous production values. It's incredibly richly detailed and usually I refrain from the sword & sorcery genre. It help that this show limits magic mostly to illusions that are prone to violence. I wouldn't have watched it if TiB didn't hype the living shit out of it months before it started. However after its incredible first scene in the pilot I was sold instantly. One of the scariest scenes ever.
It stars a midget and has dragons. I assure you it panders to clichés. Edit: for fucks sake it even has zombies.
Heehee, I'm sure you meant "has cliches involving the midget" (I have no idea since I've seen one episode and a montage of sex scenes because who has the time to wade through all that fantasy crap for some boobies?) but I like to imagine a world where a midget starring is in itself cliche. Like, pop culture starring midgets is so ubiquitous that another show comes out and everyone throws their hands up like GOD, ANOTHER ONE??? (Related: I'm still haunted by this period several years ago where I was seeing midgets EVERYWHERE. Maybe once a week for a few months I'd see one out and about just living their midget life and after a while it was starting to freak me out. I've never seen that many little people with such frequency any time before or after. I still am convinced it was some kind of omen and I just haven't connected the dots yet.)
I dunno, midgets weird me out because they have normal sized torsos and heads and really short limbs. The ratio throws me off and I don't like it.
Know what freaks me out aside from clowns and Zika (kidding about the Zika), Renaissance fairs, what the fuck. Who wants to pretend they live in a time where a sinus infection could kill you and women were property?
