My first time sounded like gentle sobbing and angry disappointment. Wait, what were we talking about again?
Your mom jokes. How original. I'll make sure to spread the word... much like your mom spreads her legs. BOOSH.
I think there's a good point mixed in there with a nice helping of propaganda. The values that make America great? I think they mean the values that will make America great again.
I enjoy listening to Dennis Prager talk, because he's smart, and he doesn't condescend or demand that you agree with him.
Is it just a little condensending when Mike Rowe, with that one in a million olive oil voice, who gets paid super handsomly for what amounts to voice over work, says we shouldn't follow our passion? I also think it's funny that Adam Carolla shares the same sentiment as Mike Rowe. He claims he did find meaning and happiness in doing a job well done in the trades but ultimately fucking hated it, followed his passion, and is now super wealthy because of doing exactly the opposite of what he espouses.
Then again Carolla doesn't seem to like podcasting either. I stopped listening about 6 months ago because of the repetitiveness and contempt he has developed for it.
I think you're missing the point... he's saying do what you have to do in order to get by, and bring your passion along with you. Just don't blindly follow your passion and think that's all you need. Mike uses the American Idol shitty contestant as an example... they're following their passion, but they really, really suck, and won't get anywhere on passion alone. And they fall apart when they get told that they suck. You need to have that real-world situational awareness when it comes to your passion... don't let it blind you to reality. I may very well be passionate about ballet, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be a ballerina. Ever. I'm sure we all know a passionate (yet shitty) musician or artist... doesn't mean you can't enjoy doing it in private as a hobby, but let's be real. Spoiler: holy fuck is that big
I have no idea who he is but I think you're a pretty smart and thoughtful guy. And I think Mike Rowe is a smart and thoughtful guy as well. But his politics get weird for me sometimes. And politics aside, Prager University is a non-accredited university. Which brings them into the well esteemed group with Trump and Liberty University. Is is political to ask you where you stand on climate change, Nett? And do I need to state where the aforementioned "universities" stand? Holy fuck, just watched this. Is bury the truth a scientific term? Not picking on you, Nett. Just something smelled rotten in the state of Denmark. It's the result (I think) of overcrowded schools plus standardized testing plus the incredible lack of conversation for these kids. They type and text and snapchat, but they don't know how to sit and talk and daydream and debate and ruminate. They've got literally no thinking skills.
The repetitiveness is getting worse it seems, I used to listen every day on the way to work, after reading your post I realized I haven't listened to one in about a month, there are ton of great podcasts out there. Carolla ranting about his fucking dog for the hundredth time is no longer one of them.
