People use them to film their kids at swim meets. First of all, they're crappy cameras. And secondly, good luck seeing your kid if you are sitting behind them. And they look really stupid.
Sometimes I wonder what happened to Ace of Base and then I hear them on the radio and I answer my own question.
It is so weird you brought this up. I was two different business last week on two different days and I swear to God they both had the same backround music loop because I heard The Sign at both. I am of the age that I remember when they were kinda (?) cool. I never owned any of their stuff but I wouldn't change the channel when it came on either. I feel a YouTube Throwback Thursday coming.
One of the funniest things my son ever said to me was when we were at the gym, getting ready to lift: Crank up the Ace of Base because we're lifting heavy today!
Ah the throwback video. Man, I remember cruising with my GF's hearing that and cranking it up, practically yelling the lyrics. I owned a t-top Nissan 280ZX at the time. We thought we were so cool. We were. Really.
It was kindergarten for me... and I remember this very well because my sisters were OBSESSED with that song. I'm a little ashamed to admit that The Sign is the first song I can remember hearing on the radio and recognizing.
Strange, google says it was released in 1993, which is when I was still in college. But I don't remember hearing it until after I graduated in 1995.
1993... Year of Jurassic Park. I would be turning 16 around that time, back when driving my dad's Lockheed C5-sized '83 Caprice Classic counted as "having wheels." Getting to drive a car was such a thrill and priviledge at that age, even if that car had a steering wheel bigger than a manhole cover and only crank-dial radio.
Don't turn around You guys are toddlers. I already had two college degrees by 1993. On the plus side, I already hated that fucking song.
I remember thinking Ace of Base had to be very cool because my friend's older sister had their cassette tape.
