I'm watching the "new season" of Twin Peaks, mostly because of how much I've heard about the original growing up and how great it was, blah, blah, blah. What a pile of garbage! How anybody considers David Lynch a "genius" is beyond me. The direction he has given some good actress and actresses makes it look like it is there first job. He somehow even fleeced the gov't of France for a tax credit as well as California. I won't stop watching until the end though as I feel I'm too invested and am holding onto a glimmer of hope that it will make sense in the end.
I think that Twin Peaks was something that could only be pulled off as well as it was back when it was originally aired. This attempt to take something that was quirky and good from that time, wrap it up in a shit load of high expectations and nostalgia, was pretty well doomed from the start, in my opinion.
Thats basically it. It was perfect for its time. Its quality barometer was shit like Murder She Wrote and Father Dowling Mysteries. Not Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Better Call Saul, etc.
I actually started the very first episode a few weeks ago but didn't get 15 minutes in and haven't been back. Too bad the new stuff isn't living up. Like a rabid Trump supporter I'll find any and every excuse possible to deny the eventual let down that will be the Deadwood movie when it is eventually released on the day of the apacolypse.
Ian McShane dies 12 hours before first day of shooting. I like to believe that they have been secretly shooting seasons of Deadwood this whole time and then throwing the tapes in the garbage directly after filming.
The question is...why aren't you, right now? It's about as addictive as heroin and pussy put together.
Just watch this highlight reel of their favourite word and you might get an idea about why it's so awesome.
My favourite thing about Deadwood is every time Al Swearengen opens his mouth. Has there ever been a greater character in the history of television?
One, when he flips out on Merrick the next morning is much better than this clip. Two, when he breaks down during his soliloquy about his mom abandoning him as a child, while he's getting blown, might just be the greatest conceived moment on TV.
Anyone watching the new Jim Jefferies show? It's kind of pretty funny... a bit shallow, but funny. It even has Brad Pitt as a weatherman.
