Did I just respond to a recruiter because I was asked to resave a bunch of reports because "the ones I saved had gridlines on them and we want ones without gridlines.......you know for consistency"? Yes. Yes I did. Granted, what was being offered is a nice pay bump and title change......That makes that decision at least marginally less petty, right?
This was an obnoxious week, and I have tomorrow off. Commence the drinking, idiots! I'm on my second beer and going out for Mexican (specifically margaritas, chips and salsa...screw an actual entree) as soon as the husband gets his boney butt home. Yippee!
A) No love for the guacamole? 2) I read that through too fast the first time and got " . . . and going out with a Mexican (Margarita) and screw."
I like Mattito's, but Gloria's is my never-fail standby. Mostly due to $4 amazing margaritas and one is within walking distance.
There's a Gloria's across the street from the Arlington branch of my school. I should've gone to school in Texas.
No, there can be cheese, but most of what everyone else calls Mexican food is really Texmex and it's different. Stuff found in Texmex: beef, yellow cheese (like cheddar), wheat flour, black beans, canned vegetables (especially tomatoes), and cumin. I like a good molè. But beef and wheat products are rarely found in traditional Mexican quisine. We have a place here called Caracol and it's a coastal Mexican seafood restaurant. They have amazing ceviche and campechana.
I feel like this should be in the Seriously thread, what is and isn't Mexican food. My favorite place is Juanitas. I get their carnitas burrito nearly every time, sometimes I get pollo asado. In the burrito theres meat, un poco de pico, and a dab of guac and thats it. No cheese, no lettuce, no 17 different condiments definitely no rice. Chipotle is American food much like Tex Mex is. Nothing wrong with it, but its kind of like how pasta with Prego isn't really Italian. A classic Baja-Cali-Mexican thing is fish tacos. You can find them in Ensenada and all over, great food, but not super traditional Mexican. People want real Mexican food, go to where the Mexicans are, plenty of awesome little places in areas white people don't usually go.
So what are you guys using instead of Kickass torrents? Got the federal government has siezed this domain message today.
Just give some pulled pork on grilled corn tortillas, queso fresca, cilantro y lime. Chips, salsa and a little quac made from advocado, lime juice and sea salt. Wash it down with a few modelo especials. Then hammock and a beach to nap, wake up in two hours and go fishing in the surf. Heaven isn't too much to ask.
Last year the Pita Pit that was next door to my office went under. There was much rejoicing. In it's place opened a taco shop. The best fucking tacos I've ever had. Izzy, the proprietor, is an early-30's guy who was a cook in Mexico City, and he makes 100% authentic, no Canadian/US bastardization, Mexican food. He also re-sells shit he has to specially import that he can't get around here. I probably eat there 3 times a week, and it's some of the best street food I've ever had. http://www.el-taquero.com/ So yeah... I like to think that I kind of know real Mexican now... and it's fucking delicious.
One day a couple of months ago Izzy shared some mezcal that his brother in Mexico makes with me and a couple of my staff. Lunch that day was off the charts, and we were warm and toasty for the rest of the day.
Is that you in the picture? Either way it's really, really difficult to imagine you as anyone other than the guy from the Incredibles
No... that's not me... that's one of my developers... I'm taking the picture. I'm way older, shaved head, goatee with grey in it...
