    I know WHAT they are, they're people who play Halloween when it isn't Halloween (yes, that's what it is.). But since it's now a profession, why isn't every vapid hot chick in the country fighting for jobs in this industry? It's not like it isn't the easiest thing in the world to do.

    I have absolutely no vendetta against nerd culture (despite like many I enjoy poking fun at it here and there), there's parts of it I love and I know a few of their favourite things just as good or a lot better than many of them do. But last time I was at a ComicCon I watched people pay $15 for a glossy 8 x 11 autographed photo of a nobody dressed like Laura Croft. In this day and age we have pornography at our fingertips, whenever we want, and this girl had at least twenty guys and their hoverhands lined up to meet her.

    THAT'S the part I can't figure out. It's a strange phenomenon to me.

    Why go through the trouble of dressing in elaborate costumes when you can be a donation based instagram model and make 5k a month like this average army wife? It's not that hard, dudes like to see girls naked or close to, this can override logic. It's just the way it is.

    I got some close friends go to ComicCon. They're local teachers and their district gets them tickets. Their facebook feed is pretty interesting now. I don't get ComicCon and fantasy playing, whatever, but if thats your thing thats cool.

    Adding play as a modifier usually denotes ultimately disappointing kink porn genres. I think there was a large subculture of costume fanatics that had traditionally been for random stuff like SteamPunk and other old timey things, that go well into film production level craftsmenship. In the mid aughts comic book movies became the endless tentpole in pop culture and many of these people moved into this genre. Then Jessica Nigri came along and proved once again the eternal equation boobs+(insert anything)=CashMoney.
