Ya know, I waver back and forth on whether I am for or against the death penalty. But then a fuckface like this guy comes along, and I would love nothing more than to see him killed slowly.
I know I had to go back and re-read the last word at least a half dozen times to confirm it did in fact say patisserie and not... something else.
You're in North County? Nice, I'm in SD right now too to see the parents. If you need any resteraunt recs or things to do let me know.
I made some bomb ass pepper jellies last week and we broke them out last night with some friends. They were a smashing hit. One dude is paying me $15 to make him a big jar of the mango cayenne pepper jelly. I need to figure out how to market this shit at farmer's markets or the flea market while not going to jail for preparing my food in a non-commercial kitchen.
Man, I havent had pepper jelly in years, my grandma used to get AMAZING pepper jelly from a farmer's market near their place in Florida. Now I need to go search some out...
Yep! This exactly. It's an awesome munchy food that looks fancy but is so easy. The mango one would also be good with a bagel and cream cheese.
Ever since I installed a Nest, my Google Ads have become more dating website focused. I don't think it's a coincidence.
About to check out Guardians Of The Galaxy. I've heard nothing but great things, and this summer could desperately use a good popcorn movie. I love the VIP theatres here. No kids under 19, booze at your seat, leather recliners, it's pricey but so worth it if its a fun movie.
I'm all for crucifying the guy they caught - but honestly, I'm not sure how comfortable I am with Google scanning for illegal content proactively to report it to the cops. I mean I'm completely comfortable with them scanning for kiddy porn - but characteristic searching hashed images could be used to search for photos of people consuming drugs, people driving dangerously, etc. There's also the ambiguous cases (16 year old girl takes a nude photo of herself, emails it to her 15 year old boyfriend, she's just distributed child pornography and may well have admitted in the context to being a statutory rapist) - whil I can't argue that what she's done is a crime - I'm not sure that I want a perfect system to catch that crime. The same methodologies could easily be applied to text content and used to content search for people discussing internet piracy, their sexual practices (In Australia, sodomy is a crime if you're under 18 even if you're over the age of consent, it's completely legal for a gay 17 year old to blow his 16 year old boyfriend, but i either one of them touches the other's anus in any way, it's a sex crime, life on a registry, most people just don't know that this is the case, despite the fact that no 17 year old has ever been convicted for buttfucking his girlfriend, where buttfucking your boyfriend has many, many convictions on record, the govt argues that it's not discriminatory because it could in theory apply equally to heterosexual couples, it just never fucking has unless the dude was old enough that it was an accessory charge to kiddy fiddling). Google operates in many, many jurisdictions. That includes many where simply being homosexual is illegal, and some where being homosexual has the death penalty. Should Google, a private organization with the ability to detect the most serious crime of the land be able to pick and choose which ones they report? And legally, will they be given that option? When the luddites in charge didn't know this kind of search was an option, it was unlikely that they'd ever be asked to do so, but now that Google has proved this technology works, why wouldn't a court order them to search for gay porn and report it to the local authorities? Hell, in Australia, BDSM pornography is illegal, why wouldn't the Australian government order Google to search for that and report it? It's classified as violent erotica here, and the Aus government has tried to push through sweeping firewalls numerous times before - why not just use everyone's email to be the morality police? And even for the most america centric person - at least when the NSA was collecting everyone's data you could hope that government incompetence and the focus on the war on drugs and terror would keep that shit out of your backyard - but with competent techs and more importantly, competent tech management running the search? How long before the ATF uses it to chase down people who illegally modify firearms for fucking around with at home? Or who distill their own liquor without a license? Or sell untaxed cigarettes? How long before it's used to chase online gambling, or game piracy, or sneaking around your license restrictions and sharing your kindle account with your friend? Illegal car mods could be a golden cashcow for state coffers if they were easier to find. Fuck, just ignoring your mechanic's email reminding you that you need to deal with a vehicle fault could be easily integrated into an automated police plate scanner system that would give patrol officers a note to pull your vehicle and inspect it for defects. There's no end to petty bullshit that nobody actually gives a fuck about but that leads to fines, if not bankruptcy and fucking potential felony convictions and serious jail time? Being able to scan every bit of mail for incriminating evidence automatically is potentially catastrophic for someone in almost every persons circle of friend or family. And while Google has currently only implemented searches for kiddy porn that their own staff are administering, they give the tool sets for content policing to private companies all the time. Big copywrite holders often have the power to use a google toolset to automatically take down youtube videos - it's not a stretch to see Google just giving the toolbox over to law enforcement to avoid the cost of reviewing the results - or to reduce their own litigation risk for content they fail to catch. And once it's google standard - there'll be huge pressure and I wouldn't be surprised to see a legal requirement for it to be implemented by all mail service providers. I'm all in favor of using any tools available to catch pedophiles - but some tools I really just don't want any government to have - much less the extreme right wing governments in some of the countries where Google operates.
It seems like it's either all or nothing. You can either stop the abuse of children, or you can potentially be hassled for doing shit you aren't supposed to be doing in the first place. Honestly? I'd rather they catch child predators. For all of the internet community's faults, one thing they definitely know how to do is hold more people accountable for the shit they've done in the past. A great example of this is the story of a hotel charging a $500 fine for bad reviews. 12 hours later, it's Yelp rating was in the toilet. There have been over a million comments filed over the FCC's Net Neutrality proposal. I believe that as more and more people who have gone their entire lives having internet access grow up and take positions of responsibility, they'll keep overzealous states in check. At least in Western civilization anyway.
Paranoid! . . . which would give them probable cause during the traffic stop to plug into your OBD port and find out all the times you've exceeded the speed limit. On another note, I think we have this year's Darwin Award winner! Dude shoots himself in the head while taking a selfie with a gun.
Welp, our office and warehouse flooded last night thanks to torrential rain. I walked in to grab my laptop this morning and my office is under 2 inches of water. My power bar fried my digital photo frame and my laptop power cord, so I figure I have about 2 hours of actual work I can accomplish today before I just say "fuck it" and spend the rest of my day watching Netflix. Fingers crossed that the waters don't recede until the end of the week. I could use an imposed vacation.
This is bad news. Unfortunately, the genie is out of the bottle now. I do agree, there should be nowhere for pedophiles to run, no second chances, they should only have a painful and slow death to look forward to but I can't get on board with this. At all. I won't go down the path quoting every Libertarian through history because you've all heard it before. Everyone knows it doesn't end here. Or maybe it is good news, time for some smart people to create another form of secure communications outside the reach of Skynet......or there are always these:
Did you just compare the community policing itself to the government (or outside agencies) doing it for us?
