As a lady who lives in cities and who also travels on her own fairly regularly, I could fill up this whole thread with inappropriate things strangers have said to me, but in keeping in light of the drunk theme (and so not particularly upsetting/threatening/racist against the wrong race ones) my top comment was when a guy got up in my face on the sidewalk and said "I want to know what your pussy smells like" and then just kept on walking. I don't know why "smells" is so much worse than "looks" (which I've gotten plenty of times before) but, good god, that one haunts me. Another contender for the hall of fame for the tame end of the inappropriate spectrum was when a guy pushed his way through a crowded T to whisper "I just need to tell you that you have the most magnificent breasts I have ever seen." Which is, relatively, VERY tame, but it has stuck with me so much. I think the combination of the effort of coming up to me through the train plus the whispering, which is audible molestation, plus his choice of the word "breasts" while harassing a woman, which made me automatically envision all of his internet comments about how Nice Guys TM like him never get laid because women are bitches. But, yeah, somehow that one sticks out of the file of catcalls etc I've been hearing since I was 11. It was May 20something 2010.
You people are bursting my Special Snowflake Internet Bubble! Gawd! I find this (insert whatever here) offensive!
I mean. We can be tacky. Okay. And like - we can be bawdy as hell. But offensive!? I mean. Hey weirdos. I've "known" y'all since like 2007-2009. Crayyyyyzeeee.
Meanwhile, at Walmart.... Of course this happened in Las Vegas. I had to do some google-fu to make sure it was real. Yes, a cinnamon roll did explode inside a man's butt while he was shoplifting.
I'm kind of hard pressed to think of any threads, new or old, that could reasonably be considered "obscene"... I have no doubt that one or two threads over the 6-8 year life of this site has gotten a bit off-side, but nothing in any way illegal or actionable.
For me at least this place rides that fine line between entertaining and educational. It's like what the history channel used to be, except it's about getting your shit together and making sense of the insane world around us. TiB is the most objective news source I've read. Only thing I can think of that's close to "cyberbullying" is the milly thread, but that was way back before your reign. Now if they'd discovered the RMMB, that shit was evil. *edit* zyron beat me to it. I could also see ballsack coming unhinged, but there's been too much time and he's probably elbow deep in a hooker right now snorting lines of coke off her ass and crying about his ex wife.
No more so then when co-workers get together and go to a bar after work. That's what blows my mind about the whole thing. Were you pitching woo with the boss' wife/daughter/niece? I really can't fathom this place being offensive to anyone but a Bible thumper/Puritan.
Threads, no. Maybe a gif CJ posted of a woman fisting herself in the butt might be a little much for young kids. But, for the internet as a whole? Pretty tame.
Didn't you get banned one time for telling hot wheelz that you believed the government should let him die? I mean that was years ago so I'm sure they didn't dig it up. But I can see how that would also be offensive.
Yup. I shouldn't have said it. It's offensive to about 99% of the population and I was (rightfully) given a week vacation because of it. I could clarify my remarks but what you said was the gist of it. Not everyone needs or wants to hear everyone's opinion, and I learned my lesson to keep that shit to myself.
I thought you got banned because you kept calling the boss Admin Nettie or Nettie Pot or Netbaby or something.
The point I'm getting at is that shit happens here daily that the general public would find to be abhorrent. Not everyone has our sense of humor. This place is full of things you would never post on your Facebook. From racist jokes to sexual histories. What happened to Nett was wrong. But I understand why it happened. This place isn't for everyone. I don't think nett did anything wrong. He was using a pseudonym that no one would have tracked him by unless they were attempting to dox him. But now when you google his name and the company name and that post comes up. It is no longer anonymous. It makes me sad. How fucking angry do you have to be at someone to pull shit like that?
I also think it came down to a 9 hour window where "anonymiser" whois functionality was disabled on the site. I renewed the registry, and it didn't attach properly, so for 9 hours my name and address were publicly available. Talk about coincidental fucking timing.
I hope all y'all are getting as drunk as can be on this wonderful Friday night. I don't know how stately-wide it is, but man Ranger Creek - Hard Days Night is some good drank. Bold. Smooth. Delicious.
The saddest thing is can anyone think of anything Nett has done being confrontational or mean enough to actually warrant legitimate anger? He's the sanest and most level headed person here.
