Yea I need to remember I don't understand most of this country despite seeing almost all of it. At least I know people on here have a strong self-preservation instinct and wouldn't do something so dumb as trying to ride out a major hurricane, tornado or forest fire.
I used to live down there...can't remember why were in Rockport, but that's where I lost my first tooth. Never thought/heard about that place since. Weird. I have friends of friends who stayed in Corpus to ride it out. Can't imagine why. I think I'd spend about 30 minutes packing up irreplaceable stuff and then GTFO.
I do a lot of stupid shit for my own amusement, and I freely admit that I have basically zero self preservation instinct. However, "basically zero" is not "absolutely zero." I learned from a very early age growing up on sail boats in the gulf not to dare mother nature. When she gets angry, just get the fuck outta her way. Don't tempt her. I've been in a few tornadoes and those were terrifying enough. I cannot imagine a hurricane. Nothing you can do or build is enough to defeat her when she gets angry.
Speaking of forest fires, there's nothing, including hurricanes, floods and tornadoes, that matches the intensity and fear of forest fires. They usually happen randomly, and are absolutely relentless. Not only that but they grow, they grow with a random ember flying in the wind that the fire caused, sparking a new fire. Even with all the fire management we have, if a forest fire is raging, there is literally nothing that can be done to help or save anything in its path. And obviously nothing can be done to stop it unless the winds relent and the humidity increases. In my mind forest fires are more life threatening and scarier than hurricanes, tornadoes and floods. A few years ago, my parents lived in the bullseye of this fire map
Dangit. I accidentally let my Google Play Music app update and now I've got the stupid breakfast pizza icon instead of the headphones icon. This is really important. I'm with Frylock. I hate everything.
I didn't expect this to happen, but I spoke to my buddies fiance, and she's amazing, but being a groomsman at my buddies wedding, basically his #2, is causing my social anxiety to flair up. For reference his Best Man is his brother who passed away 10 years ago.
That's what I am looking for, no way I am giving Scamweather a red cent. Otherwise I'll catch the knockout replay tomorow.
My wife clued me into an estate sale today that had as she said 8 apple boxes of records. I went not expecting much and wound up purchasing twenty three albums for twenty dollars. I am now down at the office listening to Van Halen's first album. Life just happens to be pretty good right at this moment. Most of the other albums were from the early 80's and are bands that my twin boys like. They are starting to appreciate vinyl and this should help start their collection. By the way, has anyone asked Audrey what days she usually goes to the beach?
Law of averages just considering how many people get into vehicle accidents each day, you know someone was evacuating the Texas Coast and died in a car wreck on the way out. Like that dude in Rockport who survived the Hurricane but then died in his house afterward because it caught on fire and emergency services couldn't get to him from all the debris. I wonder how many people refuse to evacuate, who can't swim?
They are predicting 10-20 inches overnight. Thats a lot for us to handle. I hope thats a high estimate.
I think they're ALL going to lag like crazy, as there will be a shit-ton of people who want to watch but don't think it's worth the $100 PPV.
