Night is cooling off and getting windy, and I'm now relaxing in the hot tub with some dark rum and watching Sneakers. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it... one of my top 20 movies of all time.
My best friend and I used to watch it religiously when it was new on video. Even though it's dated it's still a fun movie with an unbeatable cast. "Anybody wanna crash a couple passenger jets?" Also, lots of people miss it but that's a young Donal Logue as Janek, the guy who made "The Box".
I tried watching sneakers but they just didn't move a whole lot. Wasn't for me. The guy at the store said they were running shoes. Figured I'd at least see something.
You want to be cyber-bullied? Because that's how you get cyber-bullied... Don't fuck with Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier, Ben Kingsly, Dan Akroyd, River Pheonex, and Mother.
And it's right up there with True Romance. The "Sicilian" scene with Walken and Hopper is one of the best.
Yes! I love "Sneakers". My group used it as a topic for a project in some bullshit Humanities class in high school. We actually got in trouble because the clip we showed had some "inappropriate language". Whatevs. It was the highlight of that class.
My favourite shot is Redford and Kingsley having words while sitting on a Cray II. But that line "It's all about who controls the information" pretty much became the meaning of life.
Kind of off topic, but years ago I was talking to a guy and asked him what type of music he liked. His response was "I don't like music." Not "I don't like X genre"....just "I don't like music." Other then deaf folks, who the fuck doesn't like music of some sort?
I mean if they accused you of it, might as well do it now, right? Kinda a double jeopardy thing. Or do they not have those fancy laws up there on the tundra?
I'm pretty sure you've discovered a new species. Because I don't know what the fuck to do with that. Hit him, maybe? Could you imagine if you were on a first date and one of the sentences spoken was "I hate music."? Ooooookay, going out in public again is a no-go.
Actually deaf people enjoy the fuck outta music because they can "feel" it, the bass lines and crap. I'd say your best bet for finding some who doesn't like music is in the psych wards. You'd have to have some type of trauma associated with it. Like "daddy always raped me while listening to Top 40."
That reminds me of a story. In the early 1900's there was a ballplayer who was a deaf. Being ultra sensitive to disabilities at the time he was nicknamed "Dummy." (Look up Dummy Hoy) His wife was also deaf and they had a doorbell that would drop a big rock on their wooden floor so they could feel it when someone was at the front door.
Nice! That whole album rocks... and that is my favourite song from the album. For those of you who are wondering "who the fuck are the Refreshments?", they did the theme song for King of the Hill. Enough said.
Here's a band that we signed at Nettwerk back in the day when I was working there... they're called Mystery Machine... one of my favourite bands ever, even though nobody has ever heard of them. Their album Headfirst Into Everything is my go-to when I'm working. This is a great track off of that album... highly recommended. They're hard to find, and I have their entire collection if anyone wants me to hook them up, let me know.
