Miami got battered and it's over the Naples area now, but thus far Irma hasn't been nearly bad as it could have been. The resulting flooding will bring the affected areas to a halt for a few days though. Miami is basically in the ocean instead of on the coast at the moment. Apparently some people had difficulty understanding the difference between the cone of uncertainty and the size of the storm. The cone is the range the eye can go, the storm can and will hit areas well outside the cone. As a result some people thought they were no longer in about to be affected areas when they obviously were. The meteorologists are "looking for ways to improve communication" but it's not their fault some people are stupid.
L. L. Bean has a lifetime guarantee on the stuff they make. You can buy a shirt and wear the shit out of it and they'll replace it, no questions asked. But as 'nerds said, their stuff lasts. I had a backpack that I beat the shit out of for 17 years and the only reason I don't still have it is my mother accidentally donated it to Goodwill. There was a little wear on the bottom but only from over a decade of tossing it on the ground cavalierly. No clue as to how they back stuff they don't make though.
And they are considering dropping it cause of fraudulent returns. People buying stuff from flea markets and tag sales and then returning it.
Update on Roomie: Broken sternum + 4 broke ribs, and he had a heart attack, "He may not make it." Bear in mind this report came from Crazy who is a bit of a drama queen.
He just a generally unpleasant person. I tend to avoid the folks I live with as much as possible to keep from snapping.
You can see the fronds getting blasted horizontally on all the palm trees. Why would you even go outside, much less consider doing that?
He's been riding Harleys most of his life. He traded one in on the new one....he put like 19K on the last one in 2 years.
Surprising. Running into a tree sounds like inexperience, mechanical failure, other driver, or upgrade to much faster bike.
I'm a fan of the Lansky kit as well. I received mine as a Christmas gift close to 30yrs ago and have used it on all of my knives.
I really like how it lets you set a very precise and consistent bevel whose angle best suits the blade you're sharpening. Use it on everything from my good chef's knife to my hatchets.
