Not a video, but as a followup to this video, the wolves also decimated the coyote population. During the absence of the wolves the coyotes assumed the role of alpha-predator, and their behaviour changed enough that they thought they were king shit in the park, and lost their sense of fear. Wolves were introduced, experienced the coyotes' behaviour, and then actively hunted and killed off any coyotes that even remotely hinted at trying to be alpha-predator. Not just ran them off when they came around, but actively hunted and killed them. It is really incredible to see just how complicated and precariously balanced ecosystems can be, and how one "little" change can have such radical effects. Talk about the butterfly effect. Can never go wrong with a JonTron video. RoyKelly has some great readings on his channel. TheVolgun has a lot of SCP Foundation stuff on his channel, and he does some good atmospheric voice-acting for them. ThatGuyWithAVoice in one of the best readers of 4chan posts and teller of other Internet tales I've ever heard.
I could watch this bit by Doug over and over and over. It makes so much good points in such a curmudgeonly way. "I will show you the Dance of the People of The Wall!"
For anyone who's a fan of the "True Detective" show, VICE did a small piece on the story that season 1 was supposedly based on. (Link goes to video on VICE's site. Sorry, don't know how to embed this here) Aaaannnd of course this is based off of the area that I'm from. No kidding, I live like 7 miles from this church. The shots that they have of the bar/swamp/boathouses are where I spend most weekends during the summer (the nice lady around the 1:09 mark has the camp next door to us). I even grew up playing basketball with one of the younger church members who was arrested for having taken part in this sick clusterfuck (he's still in jail, I believe). Shits crazy, yo.
I've been a fan of Extra Credits for a long time and kept following them after they broke off from Penny Arcade. They have a lot of interesting videos touching on a lot of aspects of the video game industry. But they do some off beat videos, like their "Games you may not have played" series. Their Extra Credit series is very well done, and quite informative. Their Punic Wars series has been a favorite of mine for a while, but their series on what set off WWI is excellent. It really is crazy tothink back at all the dominoes that had to fall just right for such a war to take place. It's a 4 part installment, and well worth watching.
