So was the first season worth finishing? I gave up on it half way through. Anthony Mackie in season 2 is encouraging.
I quite enjoyed it. I am a sucker for sci-fi, though... but even then I watched it a couple of times, having already read the series of books. I put it up there with The Expanse as one of my top 5, 3(?) favourite netflix/tv series sci-fi.
Cool, I tried getting into the Expanse, but it just wasn’t my thing even though I also generally enjoy sci-fi. I’m looking for a new show to grind now that I’ve finished Narcos, so maybe I’ll start AC over again.
For Netflix if you haven’t watched, The End Of The Fucking World and Bojack Horseman are amazing, Peaky Blinders is also a good one. Altered Carbon season 2 in now available.
It's almost like you're in the Altered Carbon thread where we're talking about season 2 being available. Almost.
I never watched season 1, so I piled through it over the last couple weeks and enjoyed it. It wasn't perfect and I wasn't that thrilled about the finale, but overall it was plenty entertaining enough to keep me engaged. And Officer Ortega is so goddamn hot.
I liked season 2, but since the mined both of the sequel books for ideas I feel like this will be the last season of the show. I think it was a big mistake to change Kovach's backstory from disillusioned military extra special forces into a neo primitivist terrorist. We got a show that was good enough for what it was, but it wasn't Altered Carbon and the changes made the universe less expandable for the sake of simplicity. The problem is that Altered Carbon wasn't super complex to begin with and a lot of the background world building that could have been hinted at was changed. Also renaming the Martians the Elder was dumb.
Looks like they've cancelled the show now... which is too bad, as I quite enjoyed it. https://www.ign.com/articles/altered-carbon-cancelled-no-season-3-at-netflix
I thought Season 1 was better than Season 2 with Tak's background, and the overarching story with the stacks was kind of meh
