New Mos Def? New Mos Def. Over the "Niggas in Paris" beat.

    Check that Malcolm X interlude.

Schoolboy Q's new album "Habits and Contradictions" just came out recently and I'd be willing to bet it's going to end up on a lot of "Best hip hop of 2012" lists. Killer production, awesome rhymes, tight flows. Give it a listen.

Another album that came out recently is a joint project by producer Alchemist and rapper Oh No. Lyrically it is hit or miss, but the production is killer throughout. Name of the album is Vodka & Ayahausca. I have no idea what Ayahausca is.

    Sample track:

Clams Casino is a producer you may have heard about. He does a lot of those "based" beats. He's released an instrumental mix tape and an EP, both of which are phenomenal. If only he didn't give his beats to idiots like Soulja Boy and Lil B. Check this track:

People forget in all the "I Love College" frat-rap backlash that Asher Roth can be seriously talented & interesting when he puts his mind to it.

So my cousin is actually becoming pretty damn skilled with Logic Pro and making some interesting shit with hip hop. This is his page: http://www.reverbnation.com/artist/artist_songs/2048278. Give him a listen if you want to check out something new. He's a bright kid and and really starting to hone his craft. Give it a shot.

I really have no clue what to make of that track. I guess it has some value as a "ah this could be something interesting" thing. Odd Future has seemed a little old news after Goblin finished making the rounds. I certainly hope that isn't their creative peak. Of course, Frank Ocean is doing his thing. Tyler also seems to be working on the third album, which is exciting. I'm going to be very interesting in seeing what Tyler and Earl end up doing together.

Somehow, I can't shake the feeling that A$AP Rocky already took these guys' sounds (along with Lil B, among others) and crystalized them into a stronger, complete package. It's up to Odd Future now to show they aren't a one trick pony. This will certainly send some attention their way, which could be a great time for Tyler and Earl (and maybe even Mike G whose "Ali" was pretty damn good too) to give Odd Future that second push that establishes them as a creative force, and not just a summer fad.

New track from the OF tape. Comes out March 20th

I really like it...sick beat, Hodgy Beats is an underrated rapper. See Mellowhype's Blackendwhite if you don't believe me. Video is pretty funny also. I don't think these guys are even close to peaking yet.

See that song is pretty good and pretty fun...but it's also like they aren't really trying. It was cool at first to see a bunch of dudes just not give a fuck, but now they need to start honing their craft. This song that you posted is not a step forward. It's good, but it's more of the same. I'm afraid people will just say "ok I know what those guys do" and move on with their lives.

Hope it's cool to put this here-if not I apologise. I've mentioned elsewhere on the board that my mate is trying to make it as a rapper-I think he has serious skills, so I'm doing whatever I can to get him noticed. Anyway-this is his latest effort: his take on Mac Millers 'Live it Up'. Hope you enjoy.

Big K.R.I.T. released a new mixtape 2 days ago. I finally got around to listening to it today and yesterday. It's more of the same from him, which is great. Just straightforward UGK inspired country rapping, executed very well. Just like his previous releases, the new mix tape isn't a home run or anything, but it is a solid double off the wall. Great music to drive to. Definitely worth a listen.

I know I've posted about Clams Casino before but, fuck it, I'm doing it again. I slowly becoming convinced he is a genius. Never in my life have I heard sounds that are so dark, but so full of life at the same time. Not only that, this guy has absolutely mastered the art of buildup and release. The beats he has given to people have been terrific, but his best work can't really be rapped over in any meaningful way because the music would completely dominate the sound. Listen to these tracks.

This guy's beats were by far the best aspect of A$AP Rocky's mixtape.

Anyone listen to the new Tech N9NE Ep Klusterfuk? His latest stuff has been kind of a let down, but this is awesome. I highly suggest it.
