Uh, can some one hook a brother up with the tracks? I was planning on getting it next Tuesday, but now I pretty much can't wait.

    Thanks in advance...

I give you Wordsmith from Baltimore. He has an old school style and a really nice flow.

    Recovery

Jesus Christ. I wasn't expecting anything this good. How did he have THIS in him and release Relapse? This cd is the Eminem record I've been waiting for.

Just in case you haven't seen it:

How about thoughts on the new Drake CD "Thank Me Later"? I think that the CD is pretty solid for a debut outing, but I have heard and read many mixed opinions. The first four songs (Fireworks, Karaoke, Resistance, Over) really start the album out with a bang, and the track with Young Jeezy (Unforgettable) has quickly become one of my favorites. However, I am pretty curious what others think, especially those who have discussed Drake on this board in the past...

Oh and btw...I could not agree more with those who have commented on the quality of Em's new album. For the most part, I enjoy every song and agree that he has an instant classic. From the looks of things, it seems like the old Em that we all have grown to love so much over the years is back to his best.

Seeing how basically 1/2 the album was leaked by Drake and his O.V.O. clique, it's difficult to judge.

It's a really good album, give it a 8/10 if I had to rate it.

Only problem is, with Drake, when he has someone on a track it just shows the actual skill difference between an MC and Drake. For example, "Lights Up" Jay-Z just kills it, ditto with Nicki Minaj and Jeezy.

"Thank Me Now" was a surprisingly good track.

As a Drake fan, can't complain.

Bacheloring it up for the next 3days, currently listening to every m release I've got. SSLP is fucking sick.

I'm buying the album tomorrow and going to make a night of it. Of the reviews I read, it appears as though the word play and message is epic; and I'm assuming interscope can make a beat.

Never been a huge eminem fan, but the last 4 months or so I've thrown him into my top five. Fired up.

Two new rap cds: Recovery and the new DJ Khaled. It's as if someone said, "ok this is how it's done exactly right. And this is how it's done completely wrong."

Someone has already mentioned Chiddy Bang, with his MGMT Kids sampled song. I caught him the other night after only hearing that one song. I've got to say it is not even close to his best track. My two new favorite songs right now:

    Enjoy.

He's got 2 mixtapes out right now, The Swelly Express and Air Swell. They also have 4 other tracks not on those mixtapes: a "Day and Night" remix which is hot. "Because" (ft. Radiohead), "Sooner or Later" (linked above), and "On Our Way". All of which I was able to get off of http://www.goodmusicallday.com.

I got the Drake CD too....and to be honest I think it was just OK. I'd give it like a 6/10. I'm a little biased towards more gangsta stuff though so maybe that is knocking it down a couple of notches for me. Personally though, I think the So Far Gone EP had more dope tracks than the album.

Also, as further proof that Pitchfork media just doesn't get rap at all, they gave the album a 2.8/10. Seriously. While I'll admit the production on the album is nothing to call home about, how can they possibly shit on the lyrics and flow? They may be pretty decent at rock music, but they have no fucking clue on rap. I can totally picture the fucking retard who wrote the review too. I'd be willing to bet money he was a huge fan of MGMT in 2008-2009, but has disowned them now. Link is here though I would really avoid it: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/14380-recovery/

    [/end rant]

Listening to the new Roots album now. First impressions are positive.

Also, I've heard about J. Cole before, but never listened to any of his shit. He seems to be making some pretty big waves all of a sudden. Anyone have some guidance to offer?

If you want to know anything about J. Cole just listen to his mixtape The Warm Up. JoJo on the old board cosigned J. Cole and that mixtape a long time ago so I downloaded it and put it in my car. That day I was listening to it when a guy pulled up next to me at a red light and yelled "Who is that? Drake?"

One listen to this CD and you will see why Jay signed him as the first artist to Roc-Nation.

For a bonus, one off song where you can hear his skills next to some tested dudes listen to Reflection Eternal- Just Begun. It has Talib, Mos Def, Jay Electronica, and Cole, and Cole absolutely kills it (although electronica steals the track for me). I heard this song about a few months ago, bought the CD just on it's strength, and still put it on every Mix CD that I make.

But in all, I really cannot overstate how impressed I am with J. Cole. He's probably the most talented and promising newcomer to the game right now.

Just to give fair credit-- Chiddy Bang is made up of two members.. Proto-- the rapper and Xaphoon Jones-- Producer. Each equally talented and responsible for the group's success. Check out the Xaphoon Jones mixtape for some of his best work.

    J. Cole has a new mixtape out through Tape Masters Inc. entitled "Roc Nation". Essentially it's a mash up of The Warm Up, The Come Up, and a couple new tracks, but is still worth a download.

Also on the mixtape front, Lupe dropped "Before They Were Lasers". I've got it, I just haven't had a chance to listen to it.

    J. Cole is reppin NC. Another NC act to check out is Little Brother, unfortunately they've already broken up, but they're good.

Drake's new CD? It's catchy, but my reaction is meh. His overuse of citations in his flows make him sound like a tool. Black & Decker. Lyrically? I'm really not impressed with his yoda speak. Here's to hoping that the time apart from Weezy will give him time to develop for the better.

    RE: Pitchfork's review of Em.

Pitchfork is full of hipster-douchebags that just love to trash shit, just 'cause.

Recently got Uffie's new album. For those that don't know her, she's an American who moved to England, picked up an accent (ie; Madonna) and raps. She's on Pharell's record label and spits fire.

Recovery is bonkers. The replay value is through the roof, I have had it playing every possible moment this past week. Pretty much every track is growing on me. His verse on No Love literally makes your jaw drop, it has to be one of his top five verses ever. Other favorite tracks: Talkin' 2 Myself, Seduction, Untitled. He is just too sick on the mic.

    Thanks Marshall.

So, I've been planning a bachelor party for my best friend; it begins next Thursday. We secured a sick place the mountains outside of Asheville, NC and have all of the requirements (ie. fishing, golfing, strippers) nailed to the fucking floor. As it so happens we had a "get as fucked up as possible without strippers" night planned for Friday.

With my due diligence, I stumbled across this little diddy. I mean really? Gift of Gab in a club setting, right down the way?

Facts: My boy is a huge southern hip hop / crunk fan and the property manager (friend of my boys brother) is our DD for the weekend. We have 15 people.

Question: Anyone seen these guys in concert? Meaning, is it worth herding 15 drunk and high cats to check this shit out? Hit me up with your impressions or stories from friends.

Ok, so the moment I laid eyes on this dude I was ready to hate on him. I mean look at him he looks like the white thrash wiggers you see in my town usually accompanied by a slightly overweight baby mama with a stroller. After I heard a couple of tracks though, I'll admit he's actually pretty sick. Decent flow, good delivery and good lyrics.

If you're into alternative rap or are a rap fan but also listen to many other genres, I'd like to recommend Theophilus London. He's got a pretty sweet flow, but the far more salient aspect of his music are his very eclectic sampling. Basically he'll sample anything...so long as no other rapper would ever sample it in the way he does. Some fun examples:

All off the I Want You mixtape that I've been bobbing my head to all day.
