Danny Cooksey, who played Bobby Budnick, recorded an (Surprisingly good) album as a singer with the band Bad4Good. It was produced by Steve Vai and featured (Then) 12 year old guitar virtuoso Thomas McRocklin.
I fucking despised the Power Rangers, my younger brother loved it. Some I did like though. Sooty and Sweep Spoiler The Wombles Spoiler Monkey Magic Spoiler A few others I haven't seen mentioned are The Fraggles, Speed Racer, Samurai Pizza Cats, Thundercats just to name a few.
I'm fucking old: Star Blazers: Scooby Doo, of course: Except the episodes with Scrappy, they sucked. Johnny Quest: Looking back, I think there's a shitload of unintentional racism going on with that one. And finally, Land of the Lost: Not the movie, the show. The theme song is gold.
How do none of you mention Bugs Bunny, and pretty much every Warner Brothers cartoon ever made? WB toons made up most of my childhood TV. Arise, Sir Loin of Beef! Then there were these And of course Tom and Jerry. I second Land of the Lost, Scooby Doo, and the fact that Scrappy sucked.
Growing up, I had a next door neighbor who was a couple years younger that was always at our house and was like a surrogate little brother. When he'd come over, my dad would sometimes say "Whats up Stinky". Without fail, the neighbor would always reply "Hi Ren", completely misunderstanding what my dad called him. Kind of hilarious. I still fucking love Ducktales. First song I ever knew all the words to. Significant when I think of how my random lyrics I know these days, but can still do Ducktales, acapella, from memory.
Speed Racer all the way. He was some kind of James Bond racer for retards. Dragon Ball Z. The fights would last 20 episodes. It was epic. Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Comedy standards used to be much lower.
The show that launched Morgan Freeman. It's amazing who were regulars on that show - Morgan Freeman, Rita Moreno, Mel Brooks, Irene Cara (from the movie Fame), and the kid who played Violet Beauregarde in Willy Wonka.
I finally got around to reading this thread. All of you "old people" posting that left this out? You're dead to me. I mean, he's the Number One Superguy! And, he had a striped cat named Spot. And, he was voiced by Scatman Crothers. And, since Land of the Lost was mentioned, then all the other shows created by writers on LSD, like all the Sid & Mart Kroft stuff should be mentioned, too. For instance, Sigmund & The Sea Monsters HR Puff n Stuff And, special effects? Of course! ETA: Holy crap! There's a reboot of Electra Woman and Dyna Girl!
I 've watched Sigmund and the Sea Monsters many a time and only just now did I realize the theme song is suspiciously similar to the I'd like to Buy The World a Coke song.
Extreme Dinosaurs. Practically a lot like TMNT or Street Sharks, which I also loved. CBS Storybreak, holy shit the nostalgia. Gargoyles was weird. A Disney show wish a surprising maturity, but holy shit, never a dull moment. SWAT Kats was short-lived, but it was powerfully awesome. TaleSpin: "Put anthropomorphic Disney animals in planes" Somehow, it worked. The introduction theme alone makes me beam like a retard seeing a shiny red ball
I loved 3-2-1 Contact as well as Land Of The Lost as someone mentioned before. There was a time when Sci Fi channel ran soe old episodes to coincide with the movie release and man, what a shitty show it was in hindsight. Of course for me the attraction was the dinosaurs... and Holly. The old Looney Tunes and classic Disney hold up well, and I will still sit and watch them. Tom & Jerry too.
Helll, I still find certain Looney Tunes skits funny. Especially: The Three Bears Ralph & Sam (Sheepdog vs. Wolf) Any Roadrunner cartoon that doesn't censor the best parts
Not gonna lie... I don't have much to add. My favorites were: David the Gnome (I loved some Swift!) Fraggle Rock (how could you have a soul and not enjoy this) Muppet Babies The Elephant Show Pinwheel Tiny Toons Rescue Rangers Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I know it's a movie and not a TV show, but it was on Disney every other day and I watched it every other day.
After my first kid, I bought this show on DVD and watched them, and it's a different show from an adult viewpoint. I missed a lot of references (they're all named after oil companies, for example). That said, doesn't hold up that great. I also bought DVDs of the Cosby Show. May have to throw those away, now. This reminded me, though. TGIF lineup. Full House, Family Matters, Boy Meets World, Perfect Strangers. I remember loving Friday's because my parents would buy a couple pizzas and leave my older brother (he was 13 or 14 at the time) to watch us (little brother and I were around 6 and 8), while we are pizza and watched TGIF shows and they went to dinner. Now, if I left my kids with a sitter who was 13 I'd be investigated for child endangerment.
