I am really enjoying this show a lot since Chuck died. I quit watching for a while, because I did not in anyway shape or form care about the relationship between Chuck and Jimmy. At the time I was only watching it for the cartel/Mike portion of the story line. Spoiler I am super worried about what is going to happen to Kim. She ain’t in breaking bad. I love that Kim seems to get off on Jimmy being a degenerate. The shit they are pulling with Howard now is awesome.
I've mentioned that before, too. Spoiler That sense of impending doom has been so stressful. But, I'm hoping that maybe she's been relocated with a new identity instead of dead. The relocation guy that Jimmy / Saul used had to be somebody he'd trusted before (RIP actor Robert Forster), so maybe he helped Kim get away.
My husband and I were discussing this last night too. It stresses me out! We were also discussing how old Mike looks. Technically, he should be younger since this is taking place before BB, but his liver spots are giving away his age. Not that I mind, I absolutely love watching Jonathan Banks...just something we noticed. I liked seeing Gus's set up as well. Based on the previews for the next episode, looks like we'll see the beginnings of the BB set up.
Spoiler The choice to have Lalo say he knows where to find proof, and then just let that thread hang for two episodes (so far) is genius. Especially because you think it would be humid going after Nacho, and then cutting that out of the picture quick.
I don't know if they absolutely perfectly cast Kim's mother, or if that actress studied Rhea Seehorn so well. But, her speech cadence and word emphasis was uncanny. Such a nice touch. What a fantastic finish this show is headed to.
I actually wondered if it was Rhea Seehorn for a second, because she was damn near identical in expression. All those teasers throughout the whole episode, and we still have no idea what is actually going to happen.
Wow. I cannot remember the last time a scripted TV series made me say "oh damn" out loud. What an ending for the episode.
I audibly yelled "holy shit!" at that last scene. And you're telling me I gotta wait 7 weeks for more?
I foresaw what was going to happen. And still audibly yelled holy shit when it did. This made up for the last two episodes which I felt were filler. Good shit all around.
I have some questions, just to refresh my memory. Spoiler -is Don Eladio alive in BB? I think Bolsa is but I don’t remember. -does the cartel know Fring is making meth (working with Walter) by the time we’re in the BB storyline?
Spoiler - Yes. Because Gus goes down and serves him poison tequila. - Yes, but after that event, I think, and then they don't really have the power to do anything about it, as they are mostly broken apart. I think. I'm a little fuzzy on all that.
Good grief, this show is so good, such perfect television. Seeing Spoiler Lalo and Howard in the same makeshift grave was tough. Wow. Incredible writing, acted to perfection, cinematography, editing, score is just all top notch.
Spoiler I’m disappointed that we won’t get any more Tony Dalton though. BUT…we can move on to the Gene storyline too, and I’m ready for that!
Spoiler In a perfect world, the whole apartment scene should earn both Rhea Seehorn and Bob Odenkirk their Emmys. I knew he was rushing home because he found out she quit the bar, but it was a few minutes into him "saying his piece" that I realized they both knew she was leaving and he was trying to stop her. What a great scene.
Spoiler That scene on the bus was incredible. But, the way she played it until that point, actually living and inhabiting her new character (going by the name Kim Wexler but being a totally different person) and participating in life (the kitty cat birthday card!) without just being obviously numb to it was just masterful. It was so painful to watch her break on the bus at that point.
Spoiler I can see Kim not wanting to be a lawyer in Albuquerque, trying to get away from Jimmy's bad influence, whatever; but why would go thru this self-imposed Witness Protection routine where she changes her look, her entire demeanor? Even marrying a man who goes "yep!" with every thrust. Why not just be a Florida lawyer, lord knows there's plenty of folks needing public defense. If her intent was to hide from any cartel payback, why'd she keep her name? Great episode tho, and I appreciate them really stressing the point that NO, you are not supposed to root for the bad guy.
