Every attempt I've made at predicting anything in this show has been a spectacular failure. It's awesome. God I can't wait to see how Hank reacts. I'm kind of thinking he might be terrified of Walt now. He was having those panic attacks when he was seeing what the cartels did, and now he knows/suspects that Walt is the "monster" that he's chasing. It would be a cool contrast from the first episode of the series, when Hank was basically treating Walt like a nerdy wimp.
Walt might have convinced Skylar and himself that Hank would me too embarrassed to do anything about it if he knew, but I don't think that would be the case. While Hank might not be the smartest or most subtle characters around, the show has made clear that this is one of the, if not the most, decent character on the show. This is the guy who gave up on fighting for his DEA-job after he beat up Jesse, because he knew he crossed the line. In the last two seasons (including last episode) there were also glimpses of dissatisfaction at his job. While it will cause him a lot of problems, I don't believe Hank will cover up his discovery of Walt because he's afraid of the personal consequences. Which is good. It means the show has at least one truly good person.
And they've managed to set that good guy up as the primary antagonist for the final season. I think Hank's first reaction is going to be violently angry. A lot of pretty shitty things happened to him in the past year, and Walt was responsible for most of them.
While I'm not trying to predict things all the time for this show (because they never come true), I do believe Hank's discovery sets up something new; finally Walt has a conflict with a good guy. In past seasons Walt, and us, the viewers, could rationalize his actions because they were aimed at 'bad' people. Gus, Tuco, Krazy 8 being obvious choices. Even Mike, sympathetic as he was, was a stone-cold killer. And Gale made drugs that destroyed people, so he wasn't exactly a saint. But we probably end up rooting for Walt. Even though he thoroughly deserves everything that's coming to him. Sometimes I think Gilligan just likes to mess with our heads.
Yeah, the TV Critics et al, basically came to the same conclusion with Hank that Super just pointed out. Hank's boss got fired because "I had Fring over for Seabass." Now this is his brother, plus the fact he doesn't have him dead to rights, like I said before, he needs to get a full case. He's not going to pop out the shitter with gun in the right and cuffs in the left.
So apparently there is strong, or at least existing evidence to believe the book was given to Walt by Gretchen, who's maiden name was Black (same initials as Gale). At the very least, Walt could claim it was from her. Or not. Who knows. If Hank keeps the book and finds Gale's prints, I would imagine that would mean game over.
Interview with Gilligan: <a class="postlink" href="http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/09/04/breaking-bad-finale-interview/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/09/04/break ... interview/</a>
The handwriting is pretty much a perfect match for the lab notebook, especially the N's, B's, and Y's. I don't remember ever hearing that Gretchen's maiden name was black, unless people jumped to conclusions because they misunderstood the reference to Schwartz being German for black.
Hooray for American censorship! Protecting those innocent minds, y'all. Spoiler What a fucking bad ass half-a-tease-of-a-season, by the way.
Yeah, I don't see Hank physically taking the book from the bathroom. It's just the germ he needed to start investigating Walt. Won't take him but two second to realize the whole gambling addiction was a crock of shit. Keeping tabs on Walt will eventually pay off because you know Walt won't be able to stay away forever.
That article is labeled "conspiracy theories" there is no evidence that her maiden name is Black. Sure as hell hasn't been mentioned on the show. The German husband's last name is also a a cooky stretch.

Only 2 1/2 weeks until we finish this thing. Hardwick will be hosting an aftershow called "Talking Bad", which he says will not be as light in tone as "Talking Dead", which he does after "Walking Dead".
Re: Re: Breaking Bad: Season 5 And no one will watch it, talking dead is the dumbest pile of shit TV show, nobody I know watches it. I know I won't watch one second of talking bad. That said I am pumped for the final episodes, can't wait to see what Walt needs a belt fed weapon for.
Talking Dead's finale had 5.2 million viewers and beat game of thrones. I, like many people, enjoy seeing the creators and actors talk about what happened on the show.
